Elder would honestly be a weak candidate, particularly without Trump's endorsement. He has no political experience and isn't an outsider. I'd say he loses to Biden, and probably with an electoral vote loss roughly as bad as Trump's (and a popular vote loss similar to Trump as well, though probably slightly larger).

It's all about the economy. If it's decent then it's 50-50, if it's bad then Elder is heavily favored. Good chance it gets nullified if Biden wins, assuming the GOP has the House.

Biden wins wins a similar-ish map to 2020. Elder is not a particularly strong candidate at all.

Elder does not even have trump's charisma. Biden wins 2020 map plus Nc.

Elder probably wins California in this scenario due to how unpopular Biden is at the moment.

Elder would be a better President than Biden but he would lose.

Wisconsin and Nevada I still think flip in this scenario. New Mexico, Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania would be very close as well.

Elder is a joke and he'd lose every competitive state. Trump may be a rich man, but he's one of the few Republicans that successfully avoids the "rich people are actually the victims" narrative that Republicans always think is compelling for some reason. Elder is just Reaganism with all the proud stupidity of Trumpism and that has no appeal outside of deranged partisan Republicans.

Republicans don't understand what their appeal actually is in the Trump era. Trump's lack of a filter is part of the appeal, but that alone doesn't matter if his stated worldview isn't also in line with what the voters want. Trump speaks to people because he stands up for "Real America" (which is itself something that anyone can decide for themselves what it actually means) and talks about bringing jobs back and protecting people's jobs, etc., etc. Obviously he didn't govern that way, and that will eventually cause the GOP big problems once people realize they've failed to deliver, but he talked the talk and in the meantime that's enough. Republicans now think that it's purely the crass, proud stupidity that got Trump elected when it actually isn't. In fact, for everyone that likes that about him, there are more who are turned off by it. It was his focus on standing up for working Americans that got him elected and almost reelected, along with the help of an equally incompetent Democratic Party.

The point is, almost everybody wants the government to provide some kind of solution for their problems these days. Reagan's GOP is dead, but the Republican politicians have yet to realize it. If Larry Elder shows up on stage in the 2024 GOP primary and "tells it how it is" by saying that all the out-of-work factory workers could just move into a cheap studio apartment after losing their houses and get jobs at McDonald's, then he'll get booed off stage. The GOP is in for a rude awakening if it ever tries to go back to its elitist rhetoric of the old days.

A black man who pulled a gun on a white woman would lose easily.

Some of us are reaching levels of doomerism that shouldn't even be possible. Unless Biden's approval ratings are at Bush '08 levels, Biden wins, likely winning with at least his 2020 map and NC, possibly another state or two.
