In an alternative history 2020 where both candidates were hated by the mainstream media , who would've been treated worse by the media?

It probably would be like the 2004 campaign with Fox/WSJ and MSNBC/NYT/WP sticking to their sides but CNN and the Networks being 50/50. So Gabbard narrowly given they would have two major newspapers on their sides instead of 1

Why was CNN 50/50 in 2004?

Can’t speak for conservative media, but center and center left media would easily hate Trump more. They clearly want a women president and are hesitant to go after minorities

Hence adoring Obama and Hillary but no giving two sh**ts about Biden

Why was CNN 50/50 in 2004?

A few Reasons:

- CNN's branding at the time kinda was Fox being the channel for Republicans, MSNBC being the channel for Democrats while they were the neutral channel.

- The main hosts at CNN at the time were Larry King, Jeff Greenfield, Judy Woodruff and Bernard Shaw all of whom were much balanced anchors than anyone on CNN today

-  Bush's rally around the flag after 9/11 lasted till around Spring 2004 so while he didnt get anywhere near the favorable coverage had till Spring, he still had some of it yet.

In fact a family member of mine who watched CNN during the Bush years said the coverage went like this:

From his inauguration - 9/11:  Meh

From 9/11 - Spring of 2004- Extremely Positive

Spring of 2004- Katrina- Mixed

Katrina - He Left Office: Extremely Negative

Gabbard. "The media" don't actually hate Trump. They certainly love the eyeballs reporting on him get them. They have never offered actually damaging reporting, except when its so big they have to cover the story in detail or lose viewers (Access Hollywood, Ukraine, coup attempt). Offering coverage that is  merely repeating the shock-jock's latest attention-grabbing awfulness doesn't actually hurt him. Any coverage that takes him seriously, or treats him as credible, actually helps him.

Trump, because the media tends to favor lefties, and Tulsi still has more left wing beliefs than Trump

‘The media is unfair to Trump’ is an exceptionally weird take after 4 years of translating blatantly criminal behavior into politics as usual stories and a constant barrage of here’s why I still like him editorials.

The media hates Trump in the same sense that Vince McMahon hates Steve Austin.

Gabbard because she's a Democrat. Media always treats Democrats worse.

Easily Trump and he would deserve it.

Hence adoring Obama and Hillary but no giving two sh**ts about Biden

Biden's performing far worse as president than Obama ever did.

What? The economy is far stronger than it was at this point in Obama’s term. Democrats are moving more progressive legislation, much faster. With smaller majorities in Congress. Biden has completely pulled out of Afghanistan, it took Obama 3 years to do the same for Iraq and could never do for Afghstain

To be fair, Obama inherited a much worst situation and had a much more hostile majority. Large interventions like the stimulus were new, seen as risky.

But Biden has shown everyday that he has a far more experience and a much better team than Obama did, who was filled with Clintonites

Gabbard for three reasons:

1. Not a dude, nor particularly masculine, so she won't be taken seriously in that sense like Trump still gets to be.

2. She's a Democrat, and Democrats always get held to higher standards, despite what certain blue avvies from Montana with half-a%$d predictions that are either hilariously wrong or uncannily accurate will tell you.

3. Underrated aspect, but her religious past.
