Were Rush Limbaugh listeners more likely to be men than Republican voters?

Yes, the republican base is about 50/50 male female and Limbaugh are definately heavily male so there's that.

Implausible: 2020 exit polls show a 24 points gender gap in Trump voters.

definitely.  I know a lot of Republican women who couldn't stand him.  He definitely only appealed to a certain segment of (mostly white) Republican males.

The partisan gender gap is almost entirely attributable to unmarried women (63-36 Biden.)  There isn't very much of a gap at all between married men (55-44 Trump) and married women (51-47 Trump.)  Unmarried men are much less polarized too (52-45 Biden.)

The Republican electorate is 56/44 male in the two-way split: exit polls from 2016, 2018 and 2020 all point to this exact composition (if we want to avoid rounding, then 55.9, 56.0 & 55.8, respectively).

In comparison, the Democratic electorate is around 56/44 female (56.8, 55.7 & 55.8, respectively).

BTW and at least in 2008, the answer was clear:

2010 showed a different result:

It's striking how young the audience of Colbert Report and the Daily Show is, but perhaps that isn't too surprising.

Well, that was over a decade ago and before Stewart left & Colbert migrated to true primetime. Tongue

Remember too that Rush Limbaugh got his start as a sports talk guy, which might have impacted his fans to be disproportionately male.  A similar phenomenon is likely true today for his radio show's successor, Clay Travis.
