Tar Heel Gentleman would definitely get my vote. And it's something that you created this, because I thought about doing so myself.

A matchup that would require the end of all intellectual curiosity and ability to understand commentary in a non-literal sense in our country.

NSV...not something I'd have said last year. Good job, you've done it.

I would frankly detest running for political office of any kind, and I’d probably be an atrocious campaigner. I know politics from the inside relatively well, and I definitely would never enjoy making a “good” politician.

That being said, NSV is probably one of the few people alive who could genuinely lose to me (or literally anyone else, for that matter) in a landslide- no doubt an impressive feat.

I would obviously vote for Non Swing Voter, but I have a feeling that he would lose the general election.

SirWoodbury, at least, kinda knew he was a troll and didn't have pretensions of grandeur or intellectual superiority.

You know, you shouldn't allow people to see the results of a poll and then ask them to guess who would win. I didn't see the results before I voted, however. I saw the replies and they seemed mostly pro-THG. However, I had a feeling there may be a silent majority supporting NSV for being liberal (since this forum has a very liberal bent), so I voted for NSV as the one who'd win the poll. It seems I was very mistaken in this, as THG is leading.

The other question asked who I personally prefer. I don't like NSV much and I saw that he was trolling THG (and pestering and badgering those who assumed the recall would be close), BUT he got my vote, for this reason. Both he and THG have their faults, but at a personal level, I feel like THG is significantly worse, and not just for political reasons. I know many people believe the lie that the Tar Heel Gent is a gentleman, but the fact is, he can be unnecessarily rude and vindictive toward me (resorting to using the term 'insufferable' quite frequently, 'dullard' once, and 'RINO' as well, though he's not at all wrong about the last one and I don't consider it insulting) when I voice disagreement with his political views or with him generally. I resent these personal attacks. I've never been subjected to, or seen anything, like it from NSV, and I think it's possible that I agree politically more with NSV than with THG, which is why I voted for NSV. I still find his hackery and pestering of Republicans who guessed the recall to be close a little too much, but it's better than personally attacking people at the drop of a hat.

Clearly THG has a lot of crossover appeal in this case, though frankly, I don't get why. He's not a moderate/centrist like, say, flyingmongoose, and he's not a long-time poster like OSR, so I don't see why he's so unpopular. The other side of the coin is that NSV is unpopular, which makes some sense, but I don't get why he'sso unpopular. Yes, he trolled THG and can be annoying over the recall results, but I don't see how that warrants (from the perspective of a liberal Democrat) supporting a staunch conservative like TarHeelGent.

I think the idea was who would actually win a real-life general election, at least that's how I've always thought it.

That would probably be something of a tossup. Maybe tilt NSV because THG might alienate the base since he's not too enthusiastic on Trump (then again, he could pull a Graham/Vance and start singing Trump's praises). THG would keep NC red, but if he campaigned well, NSV could retain WI, MI, PA and hold GA (though AZ might flip).
