Turn One
[/b]
August 16 to August 22
[/i]

After two years of tenuously leading a minority Liberal government, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saw a window to expand his party’s hold on Ottawa and reclaim a Majority Government.

After seeing his support surge thanks to the COVID-19 crisis, Trudeau been to lay the groundwork for a General Election. The Liberal Government announced a series of high-budget childcare programs with provincial governments and began to select slates of candidates in risings across the nation. On a same Sunday afternoon in August, Trudeau went to Rideau Hall, requested Parliament be dissolved, and the writs were dropped.

Despite holding a healthy lead in the polls, under the surface, things are not as bright as they may appear for the Liberals. While the vaccine rollout is leading the world, a strong, loud minority of vaccine opponents have emerged, at the same time as a fourth wave of infections has begun to bubble up across the country. On the same day Trudeau called the election, the Afghan capital of Kabul fell to the Taliban after a 20-year US-led war. The Government now faces questions over refugees and the political fallout over the Afghanistan crisis. Climate has become a more pressing issue, as serious wildfires have removed entire Canadian towns for the map in a matter of hours. And an even more simple question has emerged - why call an election now?

These are the issues that will define the Canadian General Election of 2021.

Green Party of Canada
Time for a Green Canada!
______________________________________________________________

Campaign:

August 16th, 2021

The Green Party of Canada shall launch its manifesto and campaign in the seat of Toronto Centre, alongside Green MPs Elizabeth May and Paul Manly in the seat of Toronto Centre, the seat where Annamie Paul is running in. Alongside the manifesto and campaign launch, there shall be a press conference and a town hall, with anyone being able to ask questions to Annamie Paul, wherever they be members of the public, or media journalists, and she shall craft an image of being dedicated to the environment and to her constituency.

She will also comment on the fall of Afghanistan by attacking Prime Minister Trudeau for calling an election and she shall go to various news outlets and tell them (and the public) about the Green Party plan for Afghanistan, and the plan is a humanitarian plan and a plan that reflects Canadian values. The details of the plan shall include Canada accepting any Afghan refugee that wants to flee from Taliban controlled Afghanistan. Paul shall frame the plan as a humanitarian and a compassionate plan that will make Canada a more better nation and a plan that will help many people flee Taliban controlled Afghanistan safely.

August 17th, 2021

Annamie Paul shall tout the Universal Basic Income proposed in the manifesto of the Green Party in her home constituency and the constituency where she is running in, Toronto Centre, and she shall tout it as a plan that will help ordinary people, bring jobs, something that will make the eccomony prosper, a plan that will reduce inequality, and a plan that will make sure that people can afford to buy green-friendly products. She will also promote the Universal Basic Income and the Green Party's strong support for it across all forms of media, interviews and digital platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram.

Afterwards, Annamie Paul shall travel to the constituency of Guelph, and campaign with Green candidate Michelle Bowman and alongside the leader of the Green Party of Ontario and MPP of Guelph, Mike Schreiner, and they will campaign on local issues surrounding the area, promising better representation to the populace of the constituency, promising a better quality of life for the people of the constituency, and to make sure that Guelph is represented by an MP that puts climate as the first priority. Following the event, she shall travel back to her own constituency on Toronto Centre and knock on doors and distribute pamphlets, and she shall travel to Vancouver.

August 18th, 2021

Following her arrival to Vancouver, Annamie Paul shall travel to West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country, where she will hold a press conference about the fires in British Columbia, and she shall detail her plans to combat the fires in British Columbia, and to empathize that there is a climate emergency going on, and to empathize that the Green Party will fight against climate change and it is the only party dedicated to ending the climate emergency and the party that will fight the strongest for a green and environmentally sustainable Canada.

Following the press conference, Annamie Paul shall campaign for Green candidate for the seat of Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country, Michael Simpson, and empathize how he has pushed for recognition of climate change, and solutions to climate change, from being a non-profit leader, to sitting in non-profit boards like the Sierra Club and the Canadian Environmental Network, to pushing for solutions in the private sector, to internationally, as someone who has championed goals by the UN to ensure a green future to combat the climate emergency. They will attack the Liberal incumbent, Patrick Weiler for not doing enough for the environment, and letting the Liberal Government under Justin Trudeau build pipelines and for not doing enough action on climate change, and promising that more Green MPs in Parliament will prevent another climate catastrophe caused by climate change.

Following the press conference and the campaign event in Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country, Annamie Paul will campaign in the constituency of Nanaimo—Ladysmith, and frame him as a local leader and someone who has helped combat climate change by introducing an act to ban fracking, and someone who has introduced an act to protect Canada's forests. They will hold a town hall mainly about how the Green Party will combat climate change, especially after the report about high temperatures across British Columbia, in Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country.

Following the event, Annamie Paul flew back to Toronto, and campaigned in her constituency of Toronto Centre, alongside volunteers and supporters to meet with voters in her constituency. In her constituency, she promised to make sure that her constituency gets more investment by the federal government by the end of the term if she was elected to Parliament.

August 19th, 2021

Following a town hall in Toronto Centre, which was mainly about local issues and climate change,  Annamie Paul and her campaign team travelled by bus to Quebec, to the constituency of Outremont in the province of Quebec, and campaigned with Green candidate Grace Tarabey on various issues, including more urban parks, expanded green spaces, and about fighting oil, and attacking the Liberal Party for buying pipelines and for not dealing with climate change. Annamie Paul will also campaign on subsidizing the provincial government's measures on climate change and working and respecting Quebec on climate change and various other issues. Afterwards, there will be a town hall.

Following the speech and town hall, Annamie Paul and the Green Party campaign team will travel to Quebec City, more specifically in the constituency of Louis-Hébert, and campaign with former NDP MP and Green candidate Denis Blanchette about climate change, experience in Parliament, and about having a local Green leader in Parliament that will fight against the climate crisis as an MP. The Liberal Manifesto: 5 Pledges

Tackle Climate Change:

Climate change impacts all of us, and we have already seen the impacts of climate change through many extreme weather events, including the recent extreme heat in the interior of British Columbia. The Liberal Party remains firmly committed to tackling climate change. If re-elected we will increase the current carbon tax as well as increase the rate at which it will increase. We will pledge to raise it to $55 per tonne in 2022 and set it to increase at a rate of $20 per tonne per year.

Tackling the Coronavirus Pandemic:

If re-elected, we will introduce a vaccine mandate, requiring vaccination for non-essential activities. We will also bring in vaccine passports to more easily verify those who have been vaccinated. We will bring in a mask mandate for those who are unvaccinated.

A More Welcoming Canada:

We remain committed to taking in as many Afghan refugees as we can. Priority will be given to those who have helped the Canadian war effort, but we will work to take in anyone who may be targeted under the Taliban regime. Canada will work with the United States to ensure that the refugee process is smooth. Canada remains ready to welcome refugees from Afghanistan with open arms

More Housing for All:

We recognize the current housing crisis in Canada. If re-elected, we will pledge to build 1 million new low income housing units. We will pass laws to limit single-family zoning in densely populated areas, recognizing the need for housing in these areas to be more efficient.

Making Childcare Affordable:

We believe that all families should have access to childcare. We will work with the provinces to make childcare affordable for those families who cannot already afford it. Our goal is to ultimately have childcare available for $10 a day for all families across Canada.
