If we harvest ballots without limitations, we'll risk overfarming and depleting the natural ballot population.

Ballot harvesting increases the risk of misappropriating ballots and electoral fraud to an unacceptable level.

Turning this around slightly, I generally support how my country does elections, and am perplexed by the rhetoric coming from some American progressives about Canadian-style laws on voter ID, ballot harvesting etc.

unless you're voting in person in a suburban or rural polling place your vote shouldn't count

there is no reason for there to be polling places/voter registration drives in cities or any form of absentee voting
