Joel Quenneville resigns as Panthers head coach in the fallout of the Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault scandal.

WBEZ:
Quote
Joel Quenneville, the once-revered Chicago Blackhawks coach who led the team to three Stanley Cup titles, became the latest casualty Thursday from a burgeoning sexual-misconduct scandal from nearly a decade ago involving a former assistant on his Chicago coaching staff.

He resigned his position as head coach of the Florida Panthers after revelations in a Blackhawks-commissioned investigation by the Chicago-based Jenner & Block law firm that outlined his role in suppressing the 2010 sex-abuse allegations by ex-Blackhawk Kyle Beach.

Beach’s claims were directed at Quenneville’s ex-assistant, Brad Aldrich, during the team’s historic march to the Stanley Cup. “After the release of the Jenner & Block investigative report on Tuesday afternoon, we have continued to diligently review the information within that report, in addition to new information that has recently become available,” Panthers President and CEO Matt Caldwell said in a statement late Thursday night.

Is there anything indicating that JQ actually was was reckless or even negligent in his oversight? Or is it just sort of a it happened on his watch therefore he must be somehow responsible?

Pens on a 6 in a row streak. 8 out of their last 10.

Philadelphia has dropped 13 in a row now I think?

And then, we drop one in OT to freaking Seattle.  Sad

Leafs and Penguins both looking like playoff teams. I'm a happy man.

It's not sure I agree given the pens just dropped their 4th straight, albeit this one in OT versus the Caps and they played reasonably well notwithstanding..

Haaek is wilding. What do you expect Ovechkin to say? Realistically.

Yeah, to say we should be suspending All-russian players contracts includes anti-Putin activists like Artemi Panarin.

I'm obviously no fan of ovi, Being a pens supporter. And even less so considering this a****** aggressively shilled and campaigned for Putin in the past. But a statement saying the war is bad is about the best one can expect considering his wife, children, and other family remain back in Russia.

I'm happy with the 1-1 split in the Garden.  Now if we can at least get DeSmith back that would be nice.

Or better still, Jarry.

Grumpy, maybe you have closer news being nearer to Ground Zero-where I'm actually heading with the wife and kids this weekend to visit my parents and sister-but the best I can find online is he was only expected to miss the first two games and is "day to day" beyond that.

EDIT: Desmith is out for the season after undergoing core muscle surgery. Sad

We better hope Domingue doesn't also go down. His backup- which for the record is the backup to the backup to our backup goalie- spent half his season with the illustrious Wheeling nailers. Heck, even there he had a crappy save percentage!

Rangers 1
Refs 1
Pengus - ZEROOOOO!!!!!

Lovely... now with Domingue in net for the duration, Bettman's star-addled league sweethearts are going to be a "feel-good story" if they have more success in the series.  It's like calling the Yankees the Little Engine That Could.

I thought once we'd removed Pierre McGuire from the broadcasts that we'd have no more of this;

Butthurt Rangers fan says what?

Wanna share some butthurt Rangers fans with y'all...

Quote
I don't even know what the f*** this means. Is that some sort of slur because he's Russian?

Your team needed a f***ing three bounces in the first and a softy in the third and won the game by 1 not counting empty net goals. I wouldn't be bragging about your scrub ass team. Your superstar Hall of Famers also couldn't score on even 5% of their shots in the first two games on a goalie you said is crap in the playoffs. Your team is trash and will f***ing move to Kansas City after Crosby and Malkin retire like they should have until uncle Bettman gave them Crosby.

Quote
Did your goalie who will be working at Arby's in three years not allow four goals on less than 30 shots

Quote
Your team was gifted a goal that never occurred. Got two penalties in quick succession after, one of which was about as soft of a call as you will see and the other took our best PK'er off the ice because the referee couldn't correctly assess who committed a penalty. Goals were scored on both PP's. Then later your team scores a goal after one of our defenseman was hounded with no call about as much as the penalty we committed that led to that first penalty. Just no consistency. It's all to favor Bettman's favorite team.

Quote
If only Crosby could play in goal. The position would come naturally to him seeing how he has already made a career of diving and flopping around the ice.

Quote
No, actually I don't know who Don Koharski is. Had to look him up. He retired 13 years ago. Why would I know a referee from 13 years ago who has so little knowledge about the league that he can't even name the main players in a series? He's been gone so long that he hasn't even refereed a game with any player on our team, so that should tell you how relevant he is.

Your fan base is whining. You guys are so worried about a supposed flop by our goalie, who once again you guys can't score against. Thats 10 goals in more than 20 periods of hockey this season. I can't even search his name on twitter without seeing the incessant whining from Penguins fans and alleged Penguins journalists. It just proves my point. I think it's clear as day that Carter hit him, but regardless, why don't you worry about why you lost instead of whining about the Rangers?

Is it "butthurt" if it's all true?  Real hockey fans should be appalled at this travesty as the league has decided before the fact to give the Crosby-Malkin-Letang trio one last ride at the Rangers' expense.  It's really sad!

I didn't expect to win it all in the first year back, so the learning process is what it is.  Hopefully these literal baby-eating demons from Pittsburgh get a good thwack in the next round from a team a bit more Cup-ready.

Fact is, the Penguins are a disgrace and continuously ruin the legitimacy of the league.  Hopefully the next commissioner folds the franchise for these crimes against the sport.

Ranger fan tears. Deeeelicious!

How much easier it might have been to Simply acknowledge that the goalie who pretty much carried your team has collapsed, the Rangers anemic offense couldn't capitalize on the worst bout of goalie injuries probably any playoff team has endured in decades leaving us with only a journeyman net tender, and Crosby has been an absolute Beast thus far.

Trouba injured Crosby with a dirty play, unclear if he'll face any consequences. Also referees have started giving Pens players penalties for things they didn't do. But never forget, Uncle Gary loves Pittsburgh!

I have no sympathy for that detestable little sh**t.  The hockey equivalent of a spoiled little brat.  I can't ******* wait for this little asshole to be out of the league.

https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/claude-giroux-on-surgery-scars-those-are-from-crosby/

Hickey Dude: "Cindy has all the Refs on his side! Will never let anyone touch him and always back him! Whaaaaa! Cry "

Also Hockey Dude: " cheap shot on Crosby doesn't get called? Hell yeah!!"  Roll Eyes

The ugly fact is hockey dude like every little whining b**** about Crosby speaks out of pure envy that they know Crosby will never ever ever regardless of trading circumstances play for their team. If it was conceivable, hockey dude with drop to his knees swallow and gargle said to play for the Rangers.

Tristan Jarry is 2-6 in the postseason. Fewer wins than Louis Domingue. Let this be the beginning of the end.
I watched the highlights and assumed it was Domingue. Not a good sign for Jarry.

Meh. Fresh off a broken foot and a month without playing. Hardly indicative

Cale Makar is your 2021-2022 Conn Smythe Trophy winner.

Taking Patrick over him in the ‘17 draft is gonna sting for a while. All the scouts wanted Makar. At least NAK got his :/

Patrick was the consensus top 2 pick. People didn't know where Makar would go in the top 15, because the league he played in wasn't as good as the CHL, and it was hard to project if his game would still be as impressive against tougher competition. It's kind of funny / sad though if Philly's scouts were smart enough to want Makar anywsys but were overruled by management.

Our scouts wanted him. It's true Hischier/Patrick were consensus 1-2, but part of being a good GM is bucking consensus bc your guys have better info. Also Hex trading Schenner for Frost/Beezer is looking like another L until Beezer fully develops.

Damn. That's gotta be extremely frustrating as a Flyers fan.

Yes, but again he is after all a Flyers fan, so any emotional anguish is deserved. Grin
