Why did Hillary try to use Kermit in her campaign at one point??? I get she was trying to combat Pepe, but he’s a known character with no connection to politics.  The meme never caught on.

Since Kermit is a well known puppet/character and that might've drawn the attention of some undecided voters. Advertisers use mascots and characters like this all the time to attract customers. She was just using some applied psychology.
