Gingrich was almost selected as Trump's VP in 2016. Would it have had any impact. I think Trump would've lost the OTL tipping point states of MI, WI, and PA, narrowing losing 278-260. I originally put NH/NV as tipping points giving him 270-268, but while NH might've been closer, Clinton likely would've won it by about 300 votes, while in NV, there were plenty of Catholics who Pence appealed to, while they might not have appealed to Gingrich. Discuss with maps.

I don't see how it would have made much of a difference in 2016. In 2020 it might have been enough to flip Georgia if Newt still has enough homestate appeal but otherwise no difference.

Not sure putting someone who's also scandal-plagued (though definitely not on Trump's level...who is?) on the ticket would've been a good idea. Sure, Pence was boring, but he was relatively scandal-free.
