Michigan and Mexico is telling as to just how much the auto industry has shifted south of the border. South Carolina and Germany is probably due to the BMW auto plant in SC, I'm surprised at North Carolina though. It might be due Freightliner truck and Thomas school bus plants being in the state, both of which are owned by Diamler AG.

Utah's export relationship with Britain also stands out. Apparently a lot of what Indiana imports from Ireland is agricultural chemicals.

Much of the New England trade with Canada consists of foodstuffs, but not quite as much as one might think; according to the New England Council, the region also exports a lot of computer and electronic products and transportation equipment northward.
