Honestly, the only thing I'd say would change (because I'm lazy) is that Trump wins reelection. He's the epitomy of rabid populism and the consequences it has.

Nixon either never does Watergate or never gets caught.  The GOP completes the move to the social right/economic center (more so than IRL under Trump) decades earlier.
