They never seem to get counted in surveys and are much less visible in the US than in Canada or Britain.

There are good numbers in the interior of California, but I guess they're a very small percentage of the South Asian immigrant population in major cities.

Over 1% of my street which is in the interior of California, lol. But yeah, there’s a lot in the Yuba City area (there’s even a few Punjabi (I’m assuming) billboards in Yuba City along Hwy 99). Probably 500,000 or so, I’d guess. Wiki says 250,000-500,000 as of 2007.

Quick Google gives a range of 78,000 to 700,000. Idk if there are any population distribution maps online, but I'd imagine this map of gurdwaras can make for a decent proxy.

If nothing else, the concentrations in interior California and Queens (there's apparently a Punjab Way in SE Queens) match with what I've read. I think there's also a fairly large population in the Bay Area. I've been gurdwara in San Jose and that place was large.

I remember witnessing a Sikh parade of some kind when I visited Sacramento in 2016.

Probably less than 50% are Sikh though

Only 20% of Punjabis are Sikh worldwide but in the U.S. Punjabis are (extremely) disproportionately of Indian descent, Sikh, and irreligious so maybe bump it up a little bit. Sikhs aren't exactly known for their proselytizing, and intermarriage probably would be ending it fast.

This actually means it's probably even lower than 0.1%.

The mayor of Hoboken is Sikh. I plan to email him soon on a development project that I want to kill with my own two weak bare hands. He was previously a lawyer in a politically plugged in law firm, which is a good path to power in Jersey.
