The Conservative candidate for the Poplar and Limehouse constituency is Councillor Andrew Wood.
Privately, the party understands that the chances for a victory in such a strong Labor constituency are close to zero and would be happy with any score over 15% however that will not stop candidate Andrew Wood from campaigning vigorously to exceed that target. The campaign will be focused on appealing to those in the constituency who disapprove of Corbyn, attacking Labor and the Liberal Democrats for the Coalition of Chaos, and for pandering to the SNP and promoting Scottish independence. Special attention will be given to the Liberal Democrats, who will be attacked as yet again breaking their promises and doing anything for power. As to actual policies, Michael Wood will identify as a one-nation conservative, attempting to break from the image the Tories have in Labour propaganda - he will focus on fixing the housing market by promoting right-to-buy policies, spending more in the poor parts of the constituency, especially on infrastructure while protecting the economically successful parts (Canary Wharff) from unnecessary government interference and opposing a Second Referendum while advocating for Brexit with a deal that looks after British workers.
