Who is, in your opinion, the best Republican member of the House of Representatives?
(Personally, I'm inclined to say Adam Kinzinger, an anti-Trump Republican and a moderate on the issues that matter most - guns and climate change.)

Chip Roy is the best House Republican.

Also, Kinzinger is insufferable.

I agree. Chip Roy is far more principled than most members of Congress, even if you disagree with those principles his adherence to them is more commendable than most deserve. And I agree Kinzinger is playing the game at this point no matter how genuine his beliefs are.

Kinzinger is very principled. Otherwise he could have taken the easy route and found some nonsense excuse or stayed silent and voted to acquit Trump. Roy, while better than the majority of House Republicans at this point, still voted to acquit Trump.

(And, in a somewhat unrelated point, I have to add that John Katko is also one of the best GOP representatives. Still, he supports gun rights, and has a 92% rating from the NRA, which puts him in my bad books. Kinzinger was one of eight good Republicans to support the gun control bill, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, of 2021.)

I guess Katko, but I kind of like Dusty Johnson for his demeanor and the fact that he's probably the best we'll get from SD-AL. Even during the first impeachment vote, his speech was more of a "Why can't we all just get along, guys?" type of thing, which made me want to f#ck him (no homo) out of appreciation for his courteousness.

Or that may have been the drugs.

There's a lot that I dislike about him and there should be plenty of folk who I'd admire more objectively, but I feel inclined to shout out Don Young if only because there's clearly no one else like him left in American politics. He's like our version of Bob Katter.

Roy's adherence to his principles alone make him superior to 99% of Congress.

Easily Adam Kinzinger. At least the guy has some independent thinking and a backbone. John Katko is also a solid guy.

Chris Smith.

In the absence of any other factor I'd say he ought to be Dean of the House, and he really isn't too far away from it, but there is no representative who fits the Dean title better than Don Young.

I expect Smith to become Dean within the next 10 years, and he will probably be Young's direct successor.  Hal Rogers is ahead of him in seniority, but Rogers will probably retire within the next few years.
