1. Pressure Dick Fuld to seek Lehman in the Spring

2. Call for reinstating Glass Stegall and Pressure AIG to Reform

3. Name Pawlenty  as VP

- Say “no” when asked about being willing to keep troops in Iraq for 100 years.
- Don’t say “The fundamentals of the economy are strong”.
- Pick Tim Pawlenty or Lindsey Graham for Vice President.
- Keep Phil Gramm far away from the campaign and from plans for an administration.

Hindsight 20-20, I'd tell him to

1). avoid the gaffes already mentioned (e.g. - Iraq in 100 years, fundamentals of the economy are sound)
2). don't talk about cancelling the debates after the economy collapsed
3). don't ride into Washington D.C. like John Wayne to get a stimulus passed (only for the bill to fail, leaving McCain looking foolish)
4). avoid Palin, pick Romney, Portman, or Pawlenty as VP

Ultimately though, McCain would have lost even with a perfect campaign. The environment wasn't supportive of a Republican victory
