Calling it now Bama's at #2 tomorrow. They're not gonna put Iowa above them after the sh**tshow vs. State where they woulda lost if Cliff/Lambert/Mustipher played the whole game. Cincy deserves to be above them but AP has nowhere near the cajones to do so.

Give the committee a few weeks and they’ll find a way to move Cincy down to #6 and never move them again no matter who above them loses.

The Crimson Tide hasn’t lost to an unranked team since falling to Auburn 17-10 on Nov. 24, 2007.

Almost 14 f***ing years.

That was Saban’s first year. The consistency that he and he alone has been able to maintain in this sport is nothing short of miraculous.

There are no miracles. That's a lot of boosters paying players to go there.

Obviously, but Alabama isn't the only team with money or boosters. Texas has the most booster money of any college system by far and they've been mediocre for a decade.

Serious question: how long should that be treated as the end-all-be-all definer of the Penn State football program? That scandal was 10 years ago. 15 years? 50?

You would say that, wouldn't you? I guess roleplaying as a fascist is a short leap to role-playing as a defender of pedo enablers. But no, they're severely overrated and I wouldn't be surprised if they lose two or three more games this year with a hurt quarterback and a head coach who has never really had consistent or highly cerebral coaching talent.

Well, they were never punished for it, with their paltry sanctions being reversed for no particular reason, so I think they should be defined by it for the rest of their garbage program's existence.

Seriously, dozens of boys got raped for decades under the watchful eye of Joe Paterno and they were rewarded with a Rose Bowl bid the next season. 80% of their idiot fans want the Joe Pa statue back. Suggesting they should be allowed to move on from that morally is revolting.

New playoff and New Year's Six predictions (not all games done yet)

Peach: Michigan State vs Notre Dame

Fiesta: SMU vs Penn State

Rose: Oregon vs Michigan

Sugar: Alabama vs Oklahoma State

Cotton: #4 Cincinnati vs #1 Georgia

Orange: #2 Iowa vs #3 Oklahoma

A few things with this: It seems very optimistic to believe that Iowa will win out and Ohio State will lose at least 2 more to not end up in a NY6 while the Michigans do. It also seems sadly optimistic to think that the committee would put an undefeated Cincinnati in over a 2 loss Alabama. Also, one bowl would be required to take the ACC champ; every power 5 champion gets an automatic NY6 invite even if the normal tie-in (Orange for the ACC) is a playoff bowl this year. And no, Notre Dame does not count as an ACC team for NY6 purposes. The only year that they were a full ACC team was last year.

Eh, I actually do think Cincy has the baseline to make it in this year if they actually go undefeated.

Joe Paterno is the greatest coach in the history of the sport. That's why he has my vote for governor as long as he wants it. Franklin will never make the big time. Bet Iowa today and while they may not have deserved the W, they did enough. Very nice to see.

Helped me recover from the disasters of Texas +3.5 and Ole Miss -5.5. What a double whammy of heartbreaks.

Paterno's been dead for 10 years, Curley/Sandusky/Spanier are all in jail, and MacQueary has resigned with his settlement in disgrace. If I remember correctly, the issues in the reduction of sanctions were A) the Commonwealth wanted the charity funds to remain in-state, and B) as twisted as it sounds, Penn State technically hadn't broken any NCAA rules. It was a criminal matter.

State didn't make the Rose Bowl the season after Paterno, they were banned from participating in bowl games for 4 seasons (later revised down to 2) and had their scholarships cut. Should they have gotten death penalty? Probably, but no need to misrepresent the discipline when its lenience is evident as it was.

Will any charitable contributions compensate for the human suffering endured? No. Does their cult of fans throughout the commonwealth still fend for JoePa's innocence? Too many. Are they still my squad? They've been since Henne/Manningham broke my 7 year-old heart, it's them till the grave.

Now, as for this season, Franklin's recruiting seems to have finally paid off on the defensive side of the ball. Brisker's been awesome and so has Ebiketie through the transfer window. The issues as shown today are in the running game and OL. Dotson is a nice talent however Iowa did a great job of taking him out of the game. With 3 games remaining vs the top-15 this season could end anywhere from playoffs to NY6 to mid-tier bowl game. Who knows? Lot of chaos this year.

I like whoever comes out of the B1G East over Iowa in the conference title. Iowa at Kinnick is just built different, they're not playing the same physical game at Lucas Oil. Also interesting to have 4 B1G teams in and tOSU isn't one.

I guess you could move the winner of the Penn State/Michigan game to the Rose Bowl and put the ACC Champion in the Fiesta against SMU.

Lol, sure buddy. "What we did was just awful and ruined many lives and yeah we didn't get punished but you know what imma stay a fan 'cause that pick six against Ohio State sure was sweet." Also, fun fact: Franklin himself was involved in covering up a rape while he was at Vanderbilt. No wonder he was such a perfect fit at Pedo State.

Today was our first win in Harrisonburg since the 2009 national title winning squad, long before Madison ever came to national prominence.

Despite outgaining them, we had little business winning the game. It is clear JMU have no passing game without DiNucci (and no kicking game!) and probably are not a real top 5 squad. Seems more like an end to the run of JMU rather than catapulting us into the national conversation though we could be 7ish with the very difficult road win. The Colonial has fallen very far behind the MVFC and even now the Big Sky (at least the Montana schools, maybe not Weber or UC-Davis).

No doubt we will lose one we shouldn't, but this is a huge tiebreaker for the autobid.

Takes huge guts to go for it on 4th and 1 on your own 29 in a one point game to control your fate and run out the clock. Among the most terrifying calls in football even when the other kicker missed a mulligan. Doubt I would make such a decision, but great job converting.

Eh, Baylor/LSU had players committing violent crimes and the NCAA gave them kiddie gloves so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Kentucky is literally better than they have been in generations.

I do not even know what to do at this point! Do I gloat? Do I jerk off? Do I mock lesser SEC programs?

It's an entirely new sensation and I don't really even know how to process it!

WEEK 6 RESULTS

What a terrific weekend of college football, full of close exciting games, and of course The Fall Of The Evil Empire.  NY Express won the week at 20-5, the best score of the season and two games ahead of Donerail and me.  (We continue to have a new winner every week, a trend that can't last much longer since there are only 9 of us playing.)  Full results:

20 NY Express
18 Donerail, GeorgiaModerate
17 Dereich
16 ExtremeRepublican, Terry
15 Illiniwek
14 Dingo Joe, JGibson

I gave Terry an extra point for choosing such a great set of games, but then I took it away for including UConn-UMass.

There were 6 unanimous picks:

Arizona State-Stanford (not picked by one person)
Michigan State-Rutgers
Georgia-Auburn
BYU-Boise State (wrong)
Wake Forest-Syracuse
North Carolina-Florida State (wrong)

And 7 games with a single dissenter; the dissenter was wrong in all of them:

Ohio State-Maryland
Tennessee-South Carolina
SMU-Navy
UAB-FAU
Wisconsin-Illinois
Michigan-Nebraska
Kentucky-LSU

Overall, Donerail and NYE are now tied and a game ahead of Dereich.  Year to date (150 games):

95 Donerail, NY Express
94 Dereich
91 GeorgiaModerate
90 Terry
86 ExtremeRepublican
78 JGibson
73 Illiniwek
61 Dingo Joe
12 Orwell
