New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof (D) has released an opinion from his lawyer laying out the case that Kristof is eligible to run for Governor, in spite of having voted in New York State in 2020. Oregon has a three year residency requirement, but Kristof says he voted in New York as a resident of Oregon, saying that NYS allows people to vote at their second homes there. Whether this strange argument holds water in any court is another question. Kristof is one of many Democrats considering a bid to succeed termed out Gov. Kate Brown (D).
