If this story is true what would that mean for the current situation? Scary thought right here. More then possible I believe.

We need to stay in Iraq if Iran plans on invading. I now see Iranians hate all Demomocracy, they hate freedom, and they hate all good American values.

That indeed would be a scary thing, they honestly should rethink it...

Would US premit an civil war in Mexico?

If they are going to do it, I say "good".  It will give us an excuse to get rid of the two (as if we need another one).

In the words of Patton "all this time, we've been fighting the wrong people.  We shouldn't be disarming these soldiers we should be have them turn around and fight the damn Bolshivics".

It's not perfectly analogous the the current situation.  I certainyl believe that we should have fought Saddam, but you get the drift.

Smiley  I don't have to worry much.  My two grandfathers practically have the whole Arsenal of Freedom in thier basements.  My one grandfather has an M-60 heavy machine gun, he bought it, when they were still legal.

Aren't Iran and Iraq on opposite sides of the Sunni/Shiite divide? I can see this as the new reason to stay the course. And the Republicans still won't blame Bush for getting us into this mess.

What about Iran? And do the ethnic groups of Iraq see the Iranians as the enemy.
The majority of Iraqis are Shiite, they take up the Southern regions of Iraq, the rest are Sunni and to the north.

History has proven that we won't be neutral in such an affair.  Twice I believe.

This whole region will explode within 6 months. Saudi is already getting shaky and Iran (with the hush hush help of China) will be making a move. Freedom will be coming to these areas soon enough.

How do you figure "freedom" is coming? I would guess if the whole place melts down just the opposite is likely to occur.

The Iranians are going to invade with four battalions?  We couldn't take Fallujah back with that, though two of them were in reserve.  The Iraqis can handle four Iranian battalions by themselves, with the forces they have right now.

Let me propose a rational explanation, namely the Iranians expect that after we do not leave and install a new set of puppets that matters in Iraq will become less pleasant, and that they may have to cope with large numbers of refugees (or, this being a desert, rescue large numbers of refugees).

Well it says in the original article I linked that they set up there to fill in the void once US troops left.

It would be great to give the Iranians the beating they've deserved since 1979.

I hear that Iranian has "seized" a few British military ships and arrested their crews. What could this mean? Any ideas?
