Upstate swung to the left in 2020, and to the right in 2016. There are few changes I noticed from 2004 to 2020

1). Niagara County is probably now Republican unless we are talking about a worst case scenario, despite being solidly Democratic for many years.

2). More rural parts of Upstate are way more Republican than they were in 2004.

3). Suburban areas such as Ontario County have move significantly to the left.

What do you think the trends Upstate will be like in the couple decades? Please feel free to post a county map of what you think will happen.

I think it's going to trend slightly left then level off as a slightly tilt R area.  It's mostly rural with a few cities and suburban areas but it's not rural religious people like in the South.  Trump was probably a better fit than most R's for the area so I don't see the GOP improving much there.  Plus it's in a state that's dominated by NYC and its suburbs and eventually some people will move further north, further moderating the area.
