The crux of their argument was that "bad things" were happening specifically in Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia, etc. You're likely correct that it was more about Democrats winning, but there's a reason they targeted those cities specifically and why GOP-led state legislatures are making it harder for people to vote in predominantly black, predominantly Democratic areas.
