Last year he solidly overperformed Trump in the 14th district, almost unseating Underwood.

Will he finally get lucky next year?

No - the IL gerrymander will shore up Underwood. Maybe he could try to carpetbag to the new version of Bustos' district, but I doubt he'd be able to beat King in the primary there. The GOP seats in downstate IL will have incumbents.
