Ugh, lame. I haven't eaten at Subway much these days, but I'd order the tuna sub almost every time.

Okay, so what do they contain, chicken?

They have to contain some sort of protein, right?

When I worked at Subway in 1993/4 we got huge cans of brand name tuna and mixed them with an equal part generic mayo.  All from the "official" Subway distributer.

They* only tested for 5 different species of tuna, the FDA says there are 15 fish that can be labeled as tuna.

*assuming this is related to the recent NY Times article, I can't see Tweets from work

In culinary terms, Tuna the fish and Tuna the dish are separate things, that don't necessarily overlap. They can get away with their 'Tuna' not having any 'Tuna fish' because it wasn't advertised as a 'Tuna fish' sandwich

I haven’t been to a Subway restaurant since late 2016, now I remember why.

I think I have never been to a Subway restaurant in my entire life all but once; even less than McDonalds or Burger King.

Subway shops smell good. But that's where I draw the line, walking by the front door and catching that smell. Their sandwiches have been disgusting for a long time. I've maybe had Subway once in 10 years since high school. Just about every other sandwich shop is a million times better than Subway. Therefore, I'm not surprised at this story.

I remember my Georgian ex, a former Subway employee, mentioning their imitation crab options as just "crab" as though it were the real item, unaware that as a Marylander this distinction is actually important and transgressing it would make me very angry. Given that, this isn't surprising.

They contain tuna, the cooking process just denatures the proteins that you'd use to identify it in the lab test. Not that exciting.

Subway has always been a bit fake. I usually just order to cheapest thing there for that specific reason.

Bologna is fake no matter where you go and unchanging...so nothing is lost compared to the tuna or steak or whatever other thing they have.

I wonder how long until someone photoshops the picture of Senator Vreenak holding the forged record of a supposed invasion of Romulan space by the Dominion from the episode In the Pale Moonlight from Deep Space 9 with a Subway tuna sandwich in place of the Cardassian optolythic data rod as he hisses "It's a fake!"

The meat is fake. The bread legally can't even be called bread. So that begs the question, what's in the mayo?

Don't care.  While not as good as FireHouse or Potbelly, Subway is still delicious.

Last time I went to subway I ordered a cold cut trio and got a bologna sandwich. Jersey Mike's is a good sub.
