For all his whining in the past Dore is absolutely right here. There's a large minority in the Democratic establishment that does genuinely believe normal leftists like us are larger threats than Republicans.

Jay Jacobs absolutely needs to resign for this. Anyone who believes this logic has no place in the party.

Donated to Walton’s campaign last night on principle, Jacobs’ comments were disgusting.  Also, Jacobs was a staunch ally of Andrew Cuomo’s, but apparently Walton is now supposed to be a bridge too far?  Give me a f***ing break Roll Eyes

I didn’t say *all* police force came from slave patrols, but in rural southern America the idea of a law enforcement patrol came out of slave patrols. In many cases the local sheriffs worked through the extrajudicial slave hunters to enforce laws on black people and keep them in line.

The idea that policing was pioneered by slave patrols or whatever is so mind-numbingly stupid and nonsensical.
Policing, taken here to mean some form of organized law enforcement, has always been important to complex, settled human civilization.
If history was a person then all those who uncritically believe this myth would owe it an indemnity for slander. With John Oliver paying the biggest share.

Now...that's believable, and I'll take your word for it. But a lot more specificality is needed.
