DRA just added a new feature, allowing you to paint a municipality's limits.
Also gives the benefit of seeing how a given city votes with the election data DRA provides.

Example with the suburban city of Apex, NC.

And some Florida cities during the 2018 Gubernatorial election.

Very cool feature, hope to learn more with it!

Best feature for someone like me who starts by building from cities.

Thank God. This cuts down on time big-time, along with city lines that don't suck.

I noticed this today and it's a big time saver on some states.

It does help to identify which mess of lines are cities, and what depicts unincorporated areas. It also helps to identify the lines of cities that cross county lines, which to me is in and of itself a bizarre concept. Counties at the top of the local government food chain, except when they are not.

This is great stuff, although I wish it also included townships in states where those a relevant divide--would make redrawing NJ or Pennsylvania wildly easier.

Send a feature request to the developers - now that cities are a thing it wouldn't be a big leap to do townships. New England would be easy, the others might need additional layers added to the programs, but they are certainly less complex than block layers.

This does clear up questions about how specific cities voted, and it also allows us to see how these cities voted in relationship to other regional/statewide election results. For example, it is evident that the city of Billings is crucial to Democratic statewide wins in MT - in the last few years (possibly going back even further than that), if a Democratic candidate carries Billings overall, the statewide result is also a Democratic win.

2016 Senate Race +5.70% Burr

2016 Presidential Race +3.66% Trump

2014 Senate Race +1.56% Tillis

2016 Governor Race +0.22% Cooper

2016 Attorney General Race +0.54% Stein

Loved using the city paint tool to map these, it illustrates some coalitions perfectly.
Pushback to McRory and HB2 in the Governor's race = blue unincorporated Wake, close Charlotte suburbs but redder southeast NC then in the AG race.

DRA added township overlays for Cook County, IL recently. It's possible they have done similar subsections for other states/counties, but I haven't really checked.
