Not sure why he abandoned this seat for a governors race he never had a chance in.  Had he been running for re-election, I think his campaign would have done enough research on Santos this time to disqualify him.  Did DCCC even try to dissuade him from giving up his seat for a suicide run for governor?  If not, they weren’t doing there job.

Northeast RS are endangered species anyways Kean, Cartwright and Santos are Doomed and Collins in 26 and it's only a matter of time with Sununu

If anyone can beat Kean it's Tom Malowski with Bob MENENDEZ on the ballot, MENENDEZ beat Kean in 2006 and it's a Prez yr

As for Cartwright I think he will lose and Garcia's and VA 2 that's 5 seats, if the RS go ahead without addressing inflation and pursue impeachment it will backfire on RS on NE Rs

Reason #40509435985930 SPM should be excommunicated from the Democratic party.

No, no, no, no, no. Suozzi is himself at least as much to blame as Eric Adams for doing the GOP’s dirty work in NYC. His “crime wave” antics should be disqualifying. He cannot be allowed free rein in a primary, we need somebody who is more of a team player and less likely to bad mouth their own party. The same standards that apply to progressives should apply to corporate shills too

Don't dismiss crime for political gain. Crime is up. It's a fact. The police are lashing out at Adams and Hochul and no one is listening.

It's a lot more complex than that, so no.

How is this supposed to be SPM’s fault?  Does anyone actually believe the DCCC didn’t try to get him to run for re-election in 2022?

He is probably the safest bet to flip this seat back, Santos or not as his opponent. But he still looks foolish for abandoning the seat in the first place for a Sisyphean gubernatorial run.

Or didn’t try hard enough.  They had to convince him that he couldn’t win the gubernatorial primary, which shouldn’t been too hard given that Hochul was an incumbent and he was polling at like 10%.
