Irrelevant as Newsom will remain in office.

Wouldn’t that mean Republicans are in disarray?

It's a Safe D state, it would mean anything beyond the borders of CA. The 2010 and 2014 GOP waves didn't hit CA even back then. In recent years, the GOP has de facto become a 3rd party in the state and its brand is really toxic outside some rural counties.

Might it mean that Paffrath might face Newsom in November of 2022?

It would actually be even more embarrassing than Caitlin Jenner's result of 1% or less.

I'd rush to the tv to see his impending mental breakdown.

CA is a blue state; Democrats united can fend off the GOP any day, no matter what. Rather, if Elder does win, it's a sign that the GOP did a great job of uniting the party around him, and that the Democrats are in disarray. If he loses, it doesn't matter unless he loses resoundingly or something.

I’d be surprised if another Republican gets more votes than Elder, but I suppose I wouldn’t be shocked if Paffrath squeaks out a plurality over all other candidates.

Though of course this is likely irrelevant with the first question likely failing.

I'm more curious about the reaction if Kevin Faulconer doesn't do particularly well in San Diego County (Either third place, a distant second or he doesn't even crack 15%)

I mean I'm predicting it, but I don't know how many folks here are

At first I thought you were impersonating Olakwandi
