Both empires had rather ... gaping flaws, but I'm not going to pretend I'm not fascinated by both of them.

I would hope that they would cease draining the states coffers every few years in a pointless stalemate.

Sassanids were slightly more tolerant of ethnoreligious minorities than Byzantium, and I believe had less slaves due to Persia always resembling a more Feudal society than a one based on slaves.

Yeah, but Sassanid Persia had an insane caste system and were most likely the same regarding transphobia, so it’s a wash.
