2 of the 5 were found guilty of Seditious Conspiracy including the leader Rhodes. Mixed verdict there.

All 5 found guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding.

Do we have any idea of the punishment they are facing? Imo, anything less than 20+ years for the ringleaders and 5+ years for the lackeys would be spitting in the face of American democracy.

EDIT; According to this article by the NYT the maximum penalty for a charge of seditious conspiracy is indeed 20 years, in which case Rhodes absolutely needs to have the maximum penalty, without parole, thrown at him to make an example for other right-wing nuts who even consider trying this in the future and the other grunts need to serve serious time as well.

Guilty of obstruction but not conspiracy to obstruct - so the Oathkeepers just decided to spontaneously try and overturn the election results?

From what I've seen, it appears that the various milita leadership deliberately.kept their own "foot soldiers" out of the loop on the larger conspiracy. And if they did keep them informed, the DoJ failed to prove it to the jury's satisfaction.

Sure, but that’s more for the footsoldiers, not leaders like Rhodes.

I am not celebrating until we hear the sentences we must aware of the sentences due to Trump and if DeSantis becomes the nominee, he is against Student Loan Discharge just like Clarence Thomas is against Affirmative Action and we can't Crt pack but if we Codify Students loans Discharge and Roe into Law Crt packing is a last resort , and also DeSantis may pardon Trump and insurrection

But clearly if we do Crt pack it should be 6/5 not 7/6 give way to CJ Roberts not Gorsuch

Rudy Giuliani's discplinary hearing before the D.C. Bar started today.  Check Zoe Tillman's feed for lots of details: https://twitter.com/ZoeTillman.

TL;DR: Rudy still comes off like an idiot.  It's not going well for him.

House January 6 committee has decided to make criminal referrals, chairman says

Quote
The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol has decided to make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, told reporters Tuesday.

Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, said the committee has not narrowed down the universe of individuals who may be referred.

Asked whether Thompson believed any witnesses perjured themselves, he said, “that’s part of the discussion.”

The committee is expected to meet later Tuesday.

Police snub McConnell and McCarthy at Jan. 6 gold medal ceremony

Capitol police refused to shake hands of Republican leaders during a Jan 6 ceremony today.

I mean, can you blame them?

Of course not. Republican leaders were more concerned about appeasing Trump rather than defend the constitution and the lives lost on that day.

They still don't get it.

This upsets me greatly.
It is a ceremony not only honoring specific members but all of them, and they go and act like a bunch of a$$holes.
I mean honestly ... if they have some kind of grievance/problem with anyone there, they need to express that elsewhere and not during the ceremony. Actually, they are adults ... For those that knew (in advance) that they could not control themselves, they should have not gone and excused themselves from attendance.

This article  (https://www.newsweek.com/former-jan-6-officer-mocked-dc-police-medal-ceremony-disgrace-1765139)  says:

Fanone's old co-workers also called him a disgrace and criticized him because he "was not a cop anymore."      ....they said he didn't belong at the ceremony.

Do these officers also believe that military personnel that are injured physically and/or mentally in war theaters, unworthy of being honored (because they are no longer in the service)?

In this MSNBC tv commentary video, one of the guest speakers says the police chief should order an internal affairs investigation on who was saying these things and why. And in my opinion, they should face disciplinary actions for their idiotic behavior.

It’s a cultural thing. They love violence and the untrammeled wielding of power.
