(genuine question)

actually better. After the 2015 election night debacle, they strapped in and really tried to improve the statistical methodology. The election night polls were pretty accurate since 2019.

There's a problem of under-sampling of Arab\Haredi voters but the models try to take it into account

Bennett and Kapid agreed to bring a motion to dissolve the house and for instant rotation next week. The opposition will now have to decide whether it will support it and make Lapid interim PM.

In an age of ego Bennett showed immense levels of class here. Kudos

Which is why, ideally, elections need to be put off until Bibi is jailed.

They didn’t get the memo.

The probable election date is October 25, after the holiday season.

The motion to dissolve the house will be laid next Monday. If the Knesset dissolves before July 1, the by-laws extending the legal order to Israelis in the West Bank that was set to expire would continue automatically until a new house is elected.
I'm not quite sure how the rotation will work here. If the Lapid block votes for, then Bennett is supposed to remain PM. I suppose they either insert it into the bill, or Bennett simply resigns. Then again we never had a real "rotation" so I guess we'll soon learn.

Lapid will remain Foreign Minister.
edit: Bennett will become the alternate PM instead. I suppose Lapid might give him some portfolio for appearance's sake. Though Bennett might simply retire from political life for a bit. That will be quite a legal conundrum though

Edit 2: Bennett will be the alternate PM and the "Minister for Iran". I don't think that's possible as interim government can't create ministries. I suppose Lapid will just delegate some authorities relating to the Iranian issue

The Palestinian leadership provides a good example of what happens when they (reflecting Arab-Islamic history) always insist on an all or nothing gamble - if you lose, you get nothing. Which is what the Palestinians now have.

Looking forward to a thread change after the election. I always had a feeling the final word on Bibi hasn't spoken yet.

In order to dismantle the toxic "Honour killings et al" culture in most Muslim majority countries, i think you would have to reform modern Islam and *rebuild it from the ground up* as well.

Even if he manages to squeeze in a small majority of 61 he wouldn’t be able to push for a lot of the changes he wants. And he’s old. He can’t really carry on for much longer as according to rumours he acknowledges.

It will be a short toxic tenure where he will the mule for the populist right to begin a major standoff with the Supreme Court. Like Orwell’s story with the elephant, the right wing voters lead Bibi more than he leads them

^And Bennett, too, at least per journalist Anshel Pfeffer, is privately less right-wing than his public profile would suggest and that some of his more extreme positions are expressed purely for political gain.

I suppose competing for the support of some combination of various right-wing (is that a meaningful term these days in Israeli politics?) parties and coalitions is where Israeli politics is at now...

Thankfully for world Jews, the more years that pass, the longer this sort of thing keeps happening and the continuing Palestinian refusal to face reality and to come to terms, the stronger Israel's demographic position becomes.

Apparently the United States is in the process of building a new embassy in Jerusalem to replace the one opened by the Trump administration, uprooting Palestinian families off their land in the meantime:

It's an empty patch of land and the family claiming to own it has no proof to show it and currently lives in the United States.

They do have proof.  Only that has not been confirmed by NBC News.

Gil Tamary, a journalist with Channel 13 news is in trouble after broadcasting from Mecca's Kabaa, in violation of Saudi law restricting access to the site to Muslims.

Quote
An Israeli journalist has breached a total ban on non-Muslim access to Islam’s holiest site in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, triggering an online backlash and potentially straining growing ties between Tel Aviv and Gulf nations.

Israel’s Channel 13 News aired a 10-minute report on Monday in which journalist Gil Tamary drove past the Grand Mosque that houses the cube-shaped Kaaba, the holiest shrine in Islam, and climbed the Mount of Mercy.

Tamary, who was accompanied by a local guide whose face was blurred to prevent identification, lowered his voice while speaking to the camera in Hebrew and at times switched to English to avoid revealing himself as Israeli.

The report was billed as a scoop and the journalist the first Jewish Israeli reporter to document the annual Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj.

It just amazes me how the Palestinians say such dumb and stupid comments.

That is pretty poor.
