A BILL
To support the reforestation of Frémont by linking gun sales to planting trees.

Be it enacted by the Parliament of Frémont assembled;
Quote
Section 1. Title

This legislation may be cited as the Promoting Reforestation Through Firearm Sales Act or the Trees for Guns Act.

Section 2. Contents of the Bill

1. This law shall mandate the planting of one tree for each firearm sold in the Commonwealth of Frémont.
2. Each firearm purchase would require either the planting of a tree less than a year before or a $6 tax that would go to the Interior Department of Frémont's reforestation efforts. The planting of the tree would be verified using a receipt for the seeds or a photo of the potential buyer with the sapling.
3. This requirement does not apply to ammunition, bump stocks, or any other firearm-related items.

Section 3. Effectiveness

1. This act shall be effective three months after passage.

Frémont is a region with both a high rate of gun ownership and a massive amount of green space. We have a long tradition of small-scale hunting in Frémont. Our natural wonders are the pride of our region, from the depths of the Pacific to the pinnacles of the Rockies. However, we've experienced a surge in population growth and development in recent years that will take a toll on our treasured wild places if we don't take action now. This bill is just one small step, but it would promote responsible gun ownership, support our communities and public lands, and help instill appreciation for our environment.

If there is any region that can make environmentalists and gun owners work together, it is Frémont!

This proposal is a fascinating and novel way to commit to environmental conservation and even if it is just a small step, I certainly support it.

For the record, as someone who will be representing a very large array of people from ranchers to farmers to sportsmen to loggers, many of whom are gun owners, I fully endorse this bill as a small step to keeping our region green!
