I wouldn't have pledged to choose either a woman or a person of color, but I would have picked Harris anyway.

I would have picked Henry Cuellar.

In hindsight, that actually would have helped him.

I agree, he could've helped him flip NC+FL and TX if he played it right.

I think the pledge boxed him in.

His promise to pick a woman before the George Floyd riots meant that he was essentially limited to women of color.

I suppose there are two ways of looking at it.

He won, so it does seem that it isn't worth risking any change.

Though I would have gone with Susan Rice. She seems to be a better team player, while still being qualified enough. And if Biden hadn't promised to pick a woman, that allows Rice to stand out when compared to all the other Democrats, rather than just Kamala Harris, Karen Bass and Val Demmings.
