I want to say he'd be primaried in 2020, but honestly the party has only moved more in his direction since 2018, so...fast track to senate pro tempore?

McConnell said he’d be expelled

That's easy for McConnell to say hypothetically, but I doubt he would actually go through with it.

Yup. There was also zero chance Mr. Trump would have supported this. McConnell would have backed off then or not even have the voted in the 1st place.

Moore would still be in the senate and remain as long as he wants.

All I know is that Trump and a good chuck of the hardline republicans would come out against it and McConnell would back off

Even if he were summarily investigated & expelled immediately after having been seated as a Senator, there'd be nothing whatsoever stopping him from just running again in the resultant special election to sEnD a MeSsAgE or something, & if he were to win yet again, then McConnell & Co. would probably just have to suck it up & accept Senator Moore at that point.
