They would defend him.

He could personally abort a baby on live tv and they'd still love him.

Trump attempted a coup, and it was on live tv.

Not only do they still support him, they won't even acknowledge that it was an attempted coup.

They will never leave him, and they are traitors just like he is.

Tasteless/repugnant post even by this board's standards and in the umpteenth thread/scenario designed for Democrats to stroke their ego and collectively affirm their moral superiority in a safe space where they know they will be met with little to no dissent.

That's nice.

I'm not wrong though, and deep down you know it even if you won't admit it.  Your party has gone completely off the rails, and all for one man.  A man who tried to overthrow the entire government.

Explain that.

Do red avatars feel insecure about their moral standing? What would be the point of this thread if not to shore it up in one's own eyes?

It's driven by what is sometimes called 'morbid fascination'. The GOP's continued loyalty to Donald Trump - their collective decision to become a hate-filled death cult lacking the intellect, morals, or self-awareness of a diseased sponge colony - is a horrific and tragic disaster of immense proportions. Such disasters trigger survival instincts and compel attention, so they we can decide between flight or fight. (A particularly apt comparison,  given the "Republicans" intent to turn America into racist authoritarian state, or destroy it trying.)

I also think it needs to be continually pointed out that Trump is a traitor who attempted a coup, and that the Republican Party are filled with traitors who still defend his coup.

Pointing out that the GOP has morphed into a cult worshipping a would-be dictator is something we should always be talking about, so long as the GOP/Trump remain threats to democracy.
