Tammy Baldwin Campaign

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin  @ Xten by XtenIndustries, on Flickr

Platform:
Healthcare: Tammy Baldwin has advocated for Medicare for All since her days in the Wisconsin legislature. As President, Tammy will work to pass single-payer healthcare, ensuring no American goes broke just to pay for their care. Prioritize reducing drug costs through allowing purchases from Canada, giving discounts to healthcare facilities that service low-income communities, and passing Medicare for All.

Economy: $15 minimum wage indexed to inflation within the first 100 days. Tammy has supported the fight for 15 since its inception in 2012. There’s no excuse that the wealthy have received tax breaks while the working class’s wages have been stagnant. We need to invest in childcare and paid family leave.

Taxes: The wealthiest Americans should pay their fair share to fund public works like education, healthcare, and childcare. Tammy Baldwin supports a wealth tax on the mega-wealthy, as well as cutting loopholes and carve outs in the tax code that only incentivize the outsourcing of American jobs. Our tax system should reward hard work rather than allow the wealthy to play by different rules than the rest of us.

Voting: Gerrymandering, voter ID laws, and the restrictions Republicans have implemented after losing the 2020 election are attacks on our democracy and sacred right to vote. Tammy Baldwin is committed to passing a federal election bill that is inspired by the For the People Act in order to preserve our democracy.

Trade: The trade deals of the 90s and 2000s have harmed the American worker in favor of corporations. As President, Tammy will commit to trade deals that take the environmental impact and the impact on American jobs into account. Tariffs should be used judiciously to send a message to bad actors around the globe.

Education: Cancel student loan debt. We told a generation of kids to get a good education so they could get a good job, but they are now saddled with crippling student loan debt. By canceling student loan debt, the US economy would see unprecedented growth. No federal fund diversion from public to private institutions, which just widens the education gap between the wealthy and everyone else.

Environment: Getting to net-zero carbon emissions is of paramount importance. End subsidies to fossil fuels, ban offshore drilling and declare the climate crisis a national emergency.

Endorsements and staff:

National campaign co-chair: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

National campaign co-chair: Elizabeth Warren

Campaign Manager: Scott Spector

Chief Pollster: Sean McElwee (Data for Progress)

Communications Director: Symone Sanders

Digital Marketing Manager: Caitlin Mitchell

Campaign Advisor: Chuck Rocha

Campaign Launch in Madison, WI

“The 2020 election taught us some important lessons. The first is that the Presidency is won and lost right here in Wisconsin, without the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who got out the vote in their families and communities, we would have had to face a second Trump term.

But we also learned that we cannot take one single voter or any one state for granted. We have to show up in communities, we have to be bold with our message and our plans, and we have to engage in the issues facing American families.

Joe Biden has been a vast improvement over Donald Trump, but there’s so much his administration has left unfinished. American families still face stagnant wages, growing healthcare costs, lack of paid leave and childcare, and crippling student loan debt. We keep being told to wait, to wait on the goodwill of 10 Senate Republicans to approve the Equality Act, 10 to vote for infrastructure investment, 10 to stand up for voting rights.

Like many Americans, I’m tired of waiting. I’m here to announce my candidacy for the President of the United States. We need bold, progressive leaders that are more concerned with making the lives of Americans better than with preserving a broken system. We need a President who stands up to special interest groups, who makes the wealthy pay their fair share, and who stands up for the civil rights of all Americans.

If this is the kind of bold, transformative presidency you believe in, I ask you to join my campaign. Thank you, Madison!”

Debate:

Opening Statement:

“Thank you Lester and NBC for hosting this debate, and thank you to the University of Georgia for having us.

When I was a little girl I got sick. My grandparents raised me, they cared for me, I fully depended on them, but their insurance didn’t allow them to list me as a dependent. I spent three months in the hospital and my grandparents had to sacrifice just to afford to treat my illness. After all of that sacrifice, they looked for new insurance, one that would let them add me as a dependent. Well, like millions of American families, they were hit with the dead-end of the words “pre-existing condition.”

Without government intervention, millions of hard-working families would be in the same place my grandparents found themselves in, unable to afford their loved one’s healthcare and unable to find insurance to cover them. I’m Tammy Baldwin and I’m running for President because I know firsthand the good government can do for families.”

Despite a vast popular vote victory in 2020, Joe Biden was only able to win the presidency based on a few thousand votes from swing states. Do you believe it is time for the electoral college to be phased out?

“Yes I do. But Lester, the truth is this election will be held using the electoral college. Like 2020, this election will be decided in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and my home state, Wisconsin. Democrats need to be sure we win all three in order to be elected under our current system before we have the luxury of talking about phasing it out. I’m happy to hold my electoral record in a swing state up as an example that Democrats win when we’re bold, we win when we’re honest about our values, and we win when we do not back down in the face of far right smear campaigns.”

The Senate filibuster remains intact and is considered one of the reasons President Biden wasn't able to get as much as he'd like done before the midterms. Should the filibuster be abolished?

“I’ve supported reforms to the filibuster since I was first elected to the Senate. The filibuster has been used as a tool for gridlock and partisanship. Our options are reform or abolish, the current system is untenable. The fact that President Biden struggled to pass popular bills like his infrastructure plan and failed entirely to fulfill his promise to pass The Equality Act just tells you how badly we need to address such a broken part of our system.”

Regardless of who it may be, do you pledge to support the eventual nominee?

“Yes. I have many disagreements with my colleagues on this stage, but I know each and every one of us would be head and shoulders above whomever the Republicans decide to nominate.”

To Baldwin: Senator Baldwin, in 2018, you cosponsored the Reward Work Act, which proposed guaranteeing the right of workers in listed companies to elect one-third of its board members. Does this represent government overreach in effectively forcing these companies to set aside seats for employees?

“Absolutely not. What this bill does is empower workers through reform of the corporate structure. Who do you think made those profits possible? It’s the workers! Corporations have been given tax breaks after tax breaks just for them to use those tax breaks to reward top executives with stock buybacks rather than investing in their workers. The Reward Work Act sets out to make sure the American worker gets a piece of that profit and a seat at the table in corporate governance. This is hardly ‘government overreach’ but rewarding hard work over wealth.”

Closing Statement:

“Now isn’t the time for small ideas. The past eight years have shown how badly our system needs reform. We’ve seen endless gridlock, anti-democratic movements, and a failure to deliver the big, bold change American families need. Democrats need to advocate for change, we can not allow Republican talking points to frame our political conversation.

The truth is, a $15 minimum wage is popular, Medicare for All is popular, and standing up for voting rights is popular. Just because an idea is progressive doesn’t mean it can’t have bipartisan appeal. And if you choose me as your nominee, I will fight against our broken system and for American families. Together we can move our country forward, thank you!”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren Endorse Senator Tammy Baldwin

Elizabeth Warren:

"Americans need a President who will stand up and fight for them, someone who is bold and willing to do the hard work for families. Tammy Baldwin has always been a fighter, a progressive changemaker who has never given up her optimistic vision for our country. I'm proud to endorse my friend Tammy Baldwin for President of the United States."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

"There's one clear progressive choice in this race. Tammy Baldwin has spent her career in public service advocating for American families with her support of Medicare for All, addressing income inequality, and fighting for a change to a broken system. I am inspired by Tammy Baldwin and I'm happy to join her campaign for President."

Baldwin Campaign August 16-31

140222-O-QS269-211 by Wisconsin National Guard, on Flickr

Announce Endorsements of Governor Andy Beshear and Mayor Mitch Landrieu, citing the support of education, teacher pay, and raising the minimum wage

August 16-19: Iowa

Rally in Sergeant Bluffs
Townhalls in Holstein and Rockwell City
Rally in Fort Dodge
Open campaign office in Fort Dodge
Speak at Iowa State University with AOC

“Tammy is a leader, she is naturally the progressive choice in this election for President. She’s been a vocal proponent of what many Democrats are just signing up for now for decades. She’s not only the progressive candidate, she’s also the healthcare candidate. Her plan calls for a transition to single-payer healthcare, she’s led on a public option to help us transition, and has worked to expand CHIP. For Tammy, this isn’t politics, it’s personal. She experienced firsthand our broken healthcare system and wants to ensure it works for everyone, not just the people that can afford private health insurance”

Meet with staff at Iowa State University
Rally in Des Moines
Townhall on investing in American manufacturing in West Des Moines

20-22: Nevada

Fly to Reno
Speak at University of Nevada, Reno
Workday with casino workers in Reno
Visit Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, speak with people living on the reservation about voting rights and climate change
Travel to Las Vegas
Rally in Las Vegas

23-26: New Hampshire

Fly to Concord
Rally in Concord

“The American Dream should be in reach. For too long we’ve seen Republicans slash taxes for the megawealthy while complaining about the deficit. But instead of standing up and calling that out, too many in my own party have conceded that ground to Republicans. Our party needs to be bold and honest. We have to stand by our principles and not engage in Republican talking points around legislation that would better life for Americans. We need to raise the minimum wage, start working to fix our broken healthcare system, and cancel student loan debt. We can’t just run against the other side, we need to run for something. This campaign isn’t about me, it’s about standing up for those values that unite us, it is a movement powered by every one of you.”

Rally in Manchester
Speak with nurses and hospital workers about strengthening unions and the power of collective bargaining
Townhalls in Derry and Merrimack
Rally in Nashua

27: Massachusetts

Cross into Massachusetts
Rally in Boston with Senator Elizabeth Warren

28: Georgia

Fly to Atlanta
Rally in Atlanta

“Democrats did not inspire record turnout in the 2021 runoffs by being meek. Senators Ossoff and Warnock won by advocating for what’s best for the people of Georgia. I believe we can do it again next year. We need to push to pass a federal voting rights bill, pass the Equality Act, and raise the minimum wage. Republicans have used and abused the filibuster to block every move by the Biden administration, and they will continue to do it unless we do something. Well, as your President I will show Mitch McConnell we mean business and give him a choice, reform the filibuster or I’ll call every Democrat in the caucus and tell them it’s time to do away with it. If the filibuster is what is preventing giving Americans healthcare or a raise, it’s time for a change.”

29-31: South Carolina

Cross into South Carolina
Rally in Anderson
Rally in Greenville
Open campaign office in Greenville
Townhalls in Greer and Wellford
Rally in Spartanburg

“We told a generation of Americans to dream big, to go to school so they can get their dream job and a chance at the American Dream. What they got is often a lifetime of debt that holds them back from realizing any of these dreams. It’s past time for us to cancel student loan debt and ensure every American student can get their degree without debt. My plan for higher education would make college free for all students alongside canceling the existing debt. This reduces the barrier for people of color and underserviced communities to go to school and it frees up billions of dollars in the US economy. As Congress reconvenes next month I plan on introducing a bill to cancel student debt up to $50,000 to begin to address this crisis, and I call on my colleagues in this race to support this bill and urge the Senate, House, and President Biden to as well.”

Tammy Baldwin Surrogate Schedules

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

AOC's endorsement gave Bernie Sanders's 2020 campaign a lifeline, and Tammy Baldwin hopes to capture the progressive momentum from this endorsement. As such, AOC will be hitting the campaign trail heavily on Baldwin's behalf, spending half of her time in Nevada, where she will speak with labor leaders, union members, and working-class voters on why Baldwin is the natural progressive choice in this election. Her other focus will be Iowa, where she was an incredibly successful surrogate in 2020. She will hold events in Sioux City, Des Moines, and Dubuque, campaigning on raising the minimum wage, fighting against corruption, and most importantly healthcare expansion.

Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren's endorsement also bolstered Tammy Baldwin's campaign, with Warren sharing her donation list. Like Warren and Sanders in 2020, Baldwin is eschewing corporate PAC money and relies on small-dollar donors to fund her campaign, so Warren's fundraising list is crucial in closing the fundraising gap for her campaign. Elizabeth Warren will also hit the trail with Baldwin in Boston, and campaigning herself in New Hampshire over the course of the two-week period. Warren will highlight that Baldwin's plans are the best for America, in particular her healthcare and education plans. Warren will also announce her cosponsorship of Baldwin's bill to cancel student loan debt in a rally in Nashua.

Tammy Baldwin Runs Ad "Unfinished Business" in IA, NH, NV, and SC

"In 2020, Democrats united to defeat Donald Trump. Along the way, we made some big promises to the American people."

"At every turn, Mitch McConnell has used and abused the filibuster to block legislation that would help American families, like a green infrastructure package, raising the minimum wage, and passing The Equality Act."

"We cannot allow this to continue another term, the American people came out to vote in record numbers not just because they were voting against something, but because they believed in a message of progress."

"We have unfinished business. We will expand healthcare to every single American in this country, making sure that no one goes broke because they get sick. We will repeal the GOP tax cuts on the wealthy and raise the minimum wage, ensuring the government works for all of us, not just the wealthy. And we will pass The Equality Act and cancel student loan debt, lowering the barrier for all Americans to achieve our shared American Dream."

"I'm Tammy Baldwin, and I'm running for President so we can make these promises a reality. So every American has the opportunity to get ahead in our country."

Tammy Baldwin Endorsements

National Nurses United

"Tammy Baldwin is a leader on healthcare and labor, and NNU is proud to endorse her campaign for President. Senator Baldwin has been advocating for Medicare for All since she first entered politics, and nurses know firsthand how unacceptable it is for anyone to suffer just because they can't afford care. Beyond that, Tammy Baldwin sees the importance of collective bargaining and fights against any and all discrimination she sees. Tammy Baldwin is the nurse's choice in this Presidential election."

Des Moines Register

"The Des Moines Register editorial board endorses Tammy Baldwin for President. Like the editorial board, Tammy Baldwin believes healthcare is a human right and has supported single-payer health insurance since before it went by the name Medicare for All. Tammy Baldwin would push our country into a fairer, more inclusive place with her push for corporations to be accountable to more than just their shareholders and her leadership on The Equality Act. She also understands the grave dangers of climate change and gun violence. Most of all, the board believes that Tammy Baldwin represents the kind of change our country needs at this moment."

Tammy Baldwin Makes Statement

“Sherrod Brown is a fighter who has spent his career in public office working on behalf of organized labor, progressive causes, and American families. While it is disappointing to see him suspend his campaign, I’m looking forward to joining him on the campaign trail, working to secure his re-election, and passing bold, progressive policies as President with him in the Senate.”

Tammy Baldwin September Schedule

161118-O-QS269-338 by Wisconsin National Guard, on Flickr

Endorsements:

Senator John Fetterman

“I endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2016 because I was inspired by a grassroots campaign that put the people at the center of politics. This year, Senator Tammy Baldwin is doing that again. She’s fighting against corporate PACs and for the working class, she’s not beholden to wealthy donors, she’s fighting for me and you. I’m happy to endorse her campaign for President.”

Senator Tammy Duckworth

“Tammy Baldwin is a workhorse. She’s never been afraid to get out ahead of tough fights just because they’re hard. She has worked for healthcare expansion, raising the minimum wage, and an economy that works for everyone. The Tammy Caucus is united in this election and I’m proud to endorse her.”

1-5: Iowa

Fly to Dubuque
Progressive Unity Rally with Senator Sherrod Brown in Dubuque

“When Sherrod called me to tell me he was dropping out and endorsing our campaign I was so excited to be out on the trail with him. In the Senate, he’s been such a leader for organized labor, for workers, and for fighting inequality. This year we have an immense opportunity for a progressive to win not only the Democratic nomination, but the White House. Thank you so much Sherrod for endorsing this campaign and being here with us today, together we can fulfill our promise to America!”

6-7: Nevada

Rally in Paradise with Representative Ocasio-Cortez

“We have a real responsibility to keep our promise to the American people. That means fulfilling the fight for 15, canceling student loan debt, and making college free for every American who is looking for a better education. But it also means doing the work in calling out unacceptable behavior when we see it. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should not be threatened at work for advocating on behalf of the American people. I’m calling on Marjorie Taylor Greene to be expelled from the House of Representatives for harassing and inciting violence against her colleagues. We should be able to focus on the issues facing the American people, not on one Congressperson threatening another.”

Rally in Henderson
Visit campaign office in Las Vegas

8-10: New Hampshire

Rally in Concord
Rally in Manchester
Townhalls in Petersborough and Milford
Rally in Keene
Open campaign office in Keene

Introduce student loan cancellation bill with Senators Warren, Brown, Duckworth, and Fetterman

“Today we are introducing a bill to cancel up to $50,000 in student loan debt for federal borrowers. This will would not only help those who went into debt for their education, but would free up billions in the US economy, allow every student regardless of race to have a fair shake at getting ahead, and will start the process to make our education system affordable for everyone.”

Tammy Baldwin September Schedule

September 15th: DC

Press conference on student loan debt cancellation

“If Congress does not act on cancelling student loan debt, I’m calling on President Biden to do so via executive action. Student loan debt is crippling an entire generation, stagnating our economy, and maintaining the barriers of entry for millions of Americans to get an education. Congress is meant to work for the people, not upholding a status quo that is only working for the mega-wealthy.”

16th: South Carolina

Fly to Charleston
Rally in Charleston

17th: Florida
Climate Town Hall in Miami

“Well, it starts with the filibuster. Republicans in Congress chipped away at the President’s plan until there was nothing but crumbs left. We can’t let Congressional obstructionism stand in the way of our fight against climate change. My climate bill would invest billions of dollars to create a system of charging stations and upgrade every single public school bus, Postal service car, and public transit system to be electric. This would create millions of good-paying jobs and make sure the US government holds up our end of the bargain on shifting to a green economy.”

“Part of my administration will include a monthly press conference on climate change and the environment. This is an area where clear communication is crucial, the American people deserve to know the truth. This means steering clear of scare tactics and hyperbole. As President, I can’t dictate what the media reports, but I can and will use the bully pulpit of the office to look the American people in the eye and tell them the truth.”

“This is an excellent question. US companies love to spend more money on ads telling us how green they are rather than doing the hard work to make their business practices more sustainable. As President, I will put together a task force to investigate truth in advertising specifically around greenwashing and enforce strict fines on the businesses who mislead and obscure the truth to the American people. On top of this, I will make the reports analyzing these large companies in our country public. This way the American people have access to the truth rather than just PR spin.”

18-22nd: DC

Back to DC to whip votes for student loan cancellation, other Senate duties
Meet with progressive Senators about policy priorities

23-24th: Iowa

Fly to Davenport
Rally in Davenport with Senator Tammy Duckworth
Rally in Iowa City
Rally in Cedar Rapids with Senator John Fetterman

“Politicians and consultants like to say that progressives can’t win in swing states, that we need to sell out our values in order to win. Well, Tammy Baldwin and I are proof that the old way of thinking is outdated and wrong. I’ll tell you what’s electable, a Senator who won a swing state by 11 points, a Senator who has boldly advocated for Medicare for All, a Senator who takes on the fight of workers as her own. Tammy is the most electable Democrat in this race. Just how I was the only Democrat to pick up a seat in the Senate last year, she is the only candidate who can expand the map and secure a strong victory for American workers.”

Rally in Waterloo

25-29th: DC

Introduce legislation condemning Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for sustained harassment of Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, calls for investigation on incitement of violence

30th: New Hampshire

Fly to Manchester
Rally in Manchester with Senator Elizabeth Warren

Tammy Baldwin Releases Statement Regarding Michelle Obama

"I am disheartened by the former first lady's comments about the death penalty and former President Trump. We've watched the other side stoke this violent rhetoric time and time again, but we can't stoop to their level. As Michelle herself said, when they go low, we go high. I have the utmost respect for Michelle Obama and her decision to suspend her campaign in light of this. I know she and President Barack Obama will remain committed to public service and making our country a more equitable place."

Tammy Baldwin Surrogate Schedules:

Warren: Like Senator Baldwin, Senator Warren will be DC advocating for student loan debt cancellation. On the weekends she will hit the trail for Tammy Baldwin, with one weekend in New Hampshire, the other in Iowa. She will highlight Tammy’s Medicare for All plan, her support of the working class, and her advocacy for cleaning up corruption in Washington.

AOC: Representative Ocasio Cortez will also be in session, but will hold events in Iowa and Nevada in between her congressional duties. She will highlight Baldwin’s status as both the most electable and the most progressive candidate in the Democratic field. AOC will also speak with staffers and organizers on the ground in both Iowa and Nevada, hoping to boost Baldwin the same way she boosted Sanders campaign in 2020.

Duckworth: Senator Duckworth will hit the campaign trail from Dubuque to Davenport, hoping to capitalize on her higher name ID due to her status as the incumbent Senator from a neighboring state. Duckworth’s focus will be electability, as Tammy Baldwin won as a progressive in a swing state twice.

Fetterman: Senator Fetterman will leverage his status as the only Democrat to pick up a seat in the Senate during Biden’s midterm. He will hold events in both Iowa and New Hampshire, highlighting Baldwin’s leadership on healthcare, marijuana legalization, and standing up to corporations and special interests. Fetterman will frame Baldwin as an outsider, someone who had to compete against dark money spending, advocated for progressive causes when they weren’t politically expedient, and stands in opposition to bad trade deals.

Tammy Baldwin Runs Ad "A New Way" in IA, NH, NV, SC, MA, CO, MN, ME, and VT

"We've tried politics as usual, but it hasn't gotten us anywhere."

"Instead of keeping our promise and passing a $15 minimum wage, expanding healthcare coverage, and cancelling student loan debt, we have let obstructionism be an excuse for inaction."

"Like many Americans, I'm tired of the old way of doing politics. The time we live in calls for bold action. We have a job to do."

"As your President, I will carry on your fight in Washington, working to protect you from predatory insurance companies, special interests for the megawealthy, and route out the corruption in our politics."

"We don't have to go about politics as usual, we can go a new way."

"I'm Tammy Baldwin and I approve this message."

Tammy Baldwin October 1-15th Schedule

Endorsements:

Senator Tina Smith

“Tammy Baldwin is a leader. She has been unafraid to take on bold, challenging policies during her time in the Senate. She will never shy away from doing what’s right just because it’s convenient. I believe she is by far the best candidate for President in this election, and I hope you join me in supporting her. She knows what it takes to win in tough races, and our party will be stronger in November if we nominate her.”

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto

“When I got to the Senate, I was impressed with Tammy Baldwin’s consistency. She looks at issues facing American families and asks what the government can do to help. She has lived our healthcare fight, and she knows the importance of passing bills like The Equality Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act. If we nominate Tammy, I know we will have a President who fights for your family as hard as she’d fight for her own. I’m supporting her campaign because I know she’s best for not only Nevadans but all Americans.”

October 1-3:

Nevada

Fly to Las Vegas
Rally in Las Vegas with Senator Cortez Masto

“Tammy truly understands the crisis facing the working class in our country. She’s been ahead on the issues of raising the minimum wage and passing universal healthcare, even when our own party was divided on these policies. Nevada’s entire economy is built on the working class, and we can’t let that be taken for granted. Tammy is the fighter that Nevada needs and I’m so honored to be here tonight introducing her!”

Visit Walker River Reservation to meet with native leaders

Rally in Reno

4-5:

Colorado

Fly to Denver
Open campaign office in Denver and meet with volunteers and staff
Rally in Denver

“It is well past time for us to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level. We cannot continue having a patchwork of laws just because we are afraid to take a strong stand. It is unconscionable that so many Black and brown Americans are currently in prison for something that is completely legal and lucrative right here in Denver. Decriminalization and pardoning every American currently in prison for non-violent marijuana offenses is the way we rectify this failed policy.”

“We don’t need to send more kids to war, we need to send them to school. We need to keep our promise to the American people that every single person has a shot at higher education. This means not only canceling existing student loan debt but making college free for everyone. We should not stick students with a lifetime of debt just because they sought out the American Dream. As your President I will put up the bill I proposed in Congress, and if they refuse to take it on again, I will cancel student loan by executive order.”

“The situation we’re seeing in Afghanistan is a grim reminder that we need a more mindful foreign policy. We know how this story goes, America goes in alone, puts our troops in the line of fire, and stays forever because the government we supported is unable to support itself without our military presence. I voted against the Iraq War all the way back in 2002 for this very reason. All this approach does is breed distrust of America abroad and results in our troops coming home in body bags. We need to work together with the United Nations for peacekeeping, not endless wars in the name of democracy. We need a foreign policy grounded in diplomacy, not boots on the ground.”

Statement on Larry Hogan's campaign suspension:

"It's unfortunate that the GOP is still the unwavering party of Donald Trump. I know I share this sentiment with many Americans when I say I'm ready to put his presidency fully and completely behind us. Unlike the GOP, Democrats are willing to have a debate about the future of our party rather than just looking back. Donald Trump won in 2016 due to his narrow victories in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennslyvania, but I know how to win and win big in the Midwest and I'm ready to take him on."

Surrogate Schedules:

Senator Tammy Duckworth: Senator Duckworth will hit the trail in Iowa, highlighting Baldwin’s commitment to peace over more entanglement abroad.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez: AOC will primarily campaign in Iowa, focusing on her support among young people and college students. She will focus on Baldwin’s domestic policy around free college and Medicare for All, hoping to energize progressives in the state.

Senator Tina Smith: Senator Smith will hold events in her home state of Minnesota, launching the campaign office in Minneapolis, crucial to a Baldwin win in the state. She will also join the campaign in Iowa, highlighting Tammy Baldwin’s electability in the Midwest and commitment to progressive causes.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto: Senator Cortez Masto will campaign entirely in Nevada, highlighting Baldwin’s ability to win in tough races without selling out her values and her fight for the working class. Cortez Masto will highlight Baldwin’s fight for the Paycheck Fairness Act and the Equality Act on the trail.
