"Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced Wednesday that he is running for attorney general, challenging fellow Republican Ken Paxton with a focus on Paxton's legal troubles."

"'Enough is enough, Ken," Bush said during a campaign kickoff at a downtown Austin bar. "You've brought way too much scandal and not enough integrity to this office.'"

It says a lot that he would be an active improvement compared to the current incumbent.

And this is precisely why Bush has not disavowed Trump or criticized him like the other members of the family. I had read some rumors that he was preparing to challenge Ken Paxton, and if he wins this race, that would be a stepping stone for him to launch a future gubernatorial or senatorial bid.

Even though Bush didn't disavow Trump, and has embraced him, I suspect Paxton will get Trump's endorsement, if Trump endorses anyone before the primary.

Even so, I'd give Bush the advantage, based on his last name, and Paxton's ethical issues.

This popped up in my timeline. I feel it really encapsulates what Bush is trying to go for in this campaign:

Hopefully the orange buffoon doesn't endorse him, making the Bushes once again cucked by Mr. Trump.

Hopefully Trump endorses him if he gets involved in this race, so he can win this race and then be set up for a Gubernatorial run in 2026

He can't be worth than Paxton, can he?...Probably, especially when he's cucking his own family for Trump.

Aren't ethical issues a major benefit in a Republican primary?

He's a moral coward for embracing Trump after all the latter has done.

His family probably approved him doing this . The Bushes are pretty much the definition of establishment and too stay the establishment you pretty much change along with your party . For proof of this , look at this :

Prescott Bush : A Rockefeller Republican

HW Bush : Transitioned from being a Rockefeller lite Republican to a Reagan lite Republican. Also unlike most Rockefeller republicans he voted for Goldwater in 1964

W Bush : fully embraced Neo Conservativism and the religious right even though his father in many ways hated large parts of both groups and large parts of those groups hated his father

P Bush : Embraced Trumpism despite Trumpists and prior Bushes hating each other

Just as a reminder, TX has runoffs for these positions in the primary, so it doesn't help Paxton to have 2 major challengers.

LOL, Judges sound so partisan and hackish in Texas.  What a joke.  It's as if they couldn't keep their power on for a reason.

Maybe a (more proper) stepping stone for the governorship?

This is so shameful. Throwing your family under the bus like that is one of the lowest strategies I can imagine.

Let's be real: the family knows where the wind's blowing on them - even/especially among GOP circles - right now. I have no doubt that they gave him permission to do whatever he's gotta do - no matter how pathetic - to keep the dynasty alive.
