The "Committee for a Better Ohio" looks to be a fairly DeWine-skeptical outfit and Renacci's account seems to have been one of the first to share it, so I'm guessing it's pretty close to an internal.

Oh wow. Even if it is an internal, those are some....pretty interesting numbers. DeWine will likely be fine but still this is interesting.

That does not look fine to me if I'm in the DeWine campaign.

What has DeWine to alienate such a large part of the R base? Yes, he’s been pretty aggressive in combating the pandemic, but surely that’s not the whole story? He’s always struck me as a reliable conservative, even on social issues — not a fire breather obviously, but by no means a RINO.

Haven't Harris polls been a bit weird? Either way, I'd be surprised if DeWine actually lost his primary, but if there is more evidence that he's in trouble, I guess we can't rule it out.

Actually looks plausible. It's hard to imagine that just a few years back John Kasich was overwhelmingly popular and today even someone like Mike DeWine seriously struggles just because he didn't dismiss science immediately during a pandemic.

If we had a representative faction of Republicans and libertarians on this forum, we wouldn't have to wonder about this.

Basically, people view the pandemic response as so important to their core values that people are willing to trump how they feel about any other issue. And honestly, that's not an irrational way to think, given the government pandemic policies have "infected" every person's personal life in some way that other government policies simply don't. People take it personally when their job and livelihood gets destroyed by a government decree. In other words, they lost complete faith in DeWine on the pandemic, so they feel they can't trust him on anything else. Pretty sure that's what's happening.

DeWine has always had a base problem. In large part due to his moderate stance on gun control. That’s why he only won by 1% in 2010. It had little to do with Cordray’s strength as the incumbent Attorney General and a lot more to do with both a Libertarian and Constitution Party candidate peeling off 3% of the vote.

Yes, this may effectively be a Renacci internal, but DeWine wouldn’t be implementing a vaccine lottery if he was scared. It is not coincidental that he made the big announcement the same day an actual Renacci internal dropped.
