Is the GOP the most cucked political party in the modern world? Discuss.

Well yeah, because he supports what happened and wants it to happen again as long as he and his Republican colleagues are not put at risk.

Does this mean the commission won't happen?

Why should Congress even waste their time investigating the events of January 6, when it is clear that Republicans have no interest whatsoever in actually taking measures to address what caused them in the first place? Particularly since the vast majority of them refused to punish Trump for those events? And especially after they ousted Liz Cheney for her refusal to worship at Trump's altar?

Of course he doesn't want to testify about his conversation with Trump during the coup.

McCarthy's supposed beef with the bipartisan panel is that it's not going to include any instances of left-wing violence that arose from the George Floyd protests, IIRC

Ah yes, just like when the Warren Commission famously studied the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.

Yeah, and the 9/11 Commission should have investigated Operation Condor too. So it can be #fair and #balanced.

Well then that's quite pathetic.

Well, the ex-Confederates probably would have opposed a commission to investigate the Lincoln assassination, so this makes sense.

Two main reasons he's opposed: One of course because it would anger the God Emperor, and second of all because he himself would be required to testify under oath about his January 6 conversations with Trump.

Anyway, a weak coward. But did anyone expect something different from this guy?

If Trump suggested rejoining the U.K. as 50 colonies, the majority of Republicans would be calling to revoke our independence, while the remaining few who didn't approve would be "concerned" by his comments, or claim that something AOC said is "practically the same/just as bad."

Someone would have to tell them the UK has universal healthcare and much harsher gun laws Tongue

He's the one who told the terrorists where Pelosi's private office was. That's why he doesn't want a commission, because it would implicate him.

Why in the hell did he literally authorize Katko to cut this deal if he was just gonna oppose it in the end?

If it's evenly split anyways, the Commission isn't gonna hold Ted Cruz responsible anyways, they will do just like the 911 which held Bush W irresponsible for knowing about the 911 hijackings before the Election and went on vacation anyways and did nothing

We could have won 20o2/2004 if the 911 Commission held Bush W accountable but they did nothing

But, this just shows that McCarthy would do nothing as Speaker but obstruct Biden that's all Boehner did.

We have record deficits and the GoP wants the restrain spending that's all

He lacked the spine to ensure the end went how he planned, and lacked the brainpower to prepare sensible contingency plans.

I used to think he’d muddle his way through to the gavel, but I’m becoming a lot more skeptical of this nowadays. What are Scalise’s odds in 2022?

Or maybe someone else will have a chance
