As a result of recent developments coming out of the Middle East, I have seen many comparisons in the left-y sphere on social media comparing Israel's settlements in the West Bank to colonialism and calling the Palestinians indigenous peoples.

Obviously this is an extremely complicated topic and social media posts remove nuance from the topics they are discussing. It made me think - is this framing really correct? Though the Jewish people are new to the area in recent times, we know that they actually did compare much of that land centuries ago. But, were the Palestinians there at that time as well? And, is there a distinction to be made between the Jews currently in Israel and the Jews that lived there centuries ago?

I think this question is besides the point that displacement of a given people from their homes and the concurrent subjugation of them is indeed morally sus. Therefore, the best option is to allow for a right to return and to restore recent land rights and homes of displaced people under one shared state where everyone can live in harmony.

All of that region near Africa indigenous people can be argued the Pharoahs weren't Arab they had Black Pharoahs as well as Northern Africa had Black people at first but then Muslims took over, no one owns the Suez Canal, Israel or Africa
