This is a rather straightforward and short bill to encourage our government to apply to the World Trade Organisation for a patent waiver on coronavirus vaccines and treatments – it has long been quite a sensible and easy step to ensure that countries such as India and South Africa able to easily manufacture a vaccine.

I understand that there are some concerns about the long-term impact this might have around intellectual property or the capability of drug companies to do this however I think Covid is such a great threat to the entire world world and also the best way to stop new variants is through helping as many people across the world get vaccinated.

I don’t think he said it or the house would have the power to legislate to force our government to do this hence why it’s a resolution.

Not sure what this means by "he said it". The house and Senate together could force this matter, but the means at their disposal would be rather aggressive and damaging long term.

Well as I said, their are means to force the situation but of course these are likely damaging and problematic in other regards.
