The DNC is apparently looking for oppo on over 20 Republicans who could run in 2024….including Mike Lindell(!):

The Democratic National Committee has quietly assembled a core team that is focused not just on the 2022 midterms but on the next presidential cycle and the expected Biden re-elect, according to Democratic officials in and outside the DNC.

Weeks after the inauguration, the committee’s research team, led by NICK BAUER, started gathering “oppo” on over 20 Republican politicians and has identified 49 GOPers who could run.

With DONALD TRUMP proving that traditional resumés aren’t a requirement for the GOP, the DNC says they are digging into a wide range of people, from current and former elected officials like Florida Gov. RON DeSANTIS and former U.N. Ambassador NIKKI HALEY to unconventional candidates like Fox News’ TUCKER CARLSON and Minnesota pillow magnate MIKE LINDELL. DNC officials believe social media has made the barrier to entry lower for presidential candidates and that there will be a crowded field again if Trump doesn’t run.

Finding oppo research against Mike Lindell sounds like the easiest job in the world.

They need to put in more work on DeSantis' COVID record.  Right now people can just point to the COVID rate in his state and the death rate relative to other big states, and it's tough to argue with.  DeSantis did a terrible job and shouldn't get to define himself as the "COVID Freedom Governor"

The death rate in Florida is 28th per capita. Which is around the same as California, a state with ridiculously harsh lockdowns, and much lower than NY.

Please get the timing right if you find something good. If you have another Access Hollywood tape, drop it a week before the election, not a month before (unless it's another 2020 situation and a large share of the votes are being cast early-Trump may have caught Covid at about the right time for Biden).

While oppo seemed to not work on Trump, I don’t think other republicans have his charisma that allows  him to dodge attacks.

Imagine thinking "oppo" works after someone like Trump got elected. LOL

It does, to a degree - the oppo used on Trump was lazy, and only went so far as finding recent, offensive statements that he was prepared to own. “The Orange Man is a scary bigot and not like other Republicans” backfired in part because it mostly amplified what he was already saying, and he seldom walked back any of that.

If Democrats had spent more time looking into and talking about the contempt with which the property mogul treated his tenants and workers, and had woven that into a message of him being like other Republicans (but worse), they might have cut through some more. HRC was probably closest to this when she suggested he wanted the crash of 2008, but that was brought into focus pretty late in the campaign.

What worked in 2012 wasn’t too different.

The average voter has the attention span of a Peanut and forgot about the Access Hollywood tape a week after. A October surprise is supposed to be dropped in the last week, like the Bush DUI in 2000 and the Bin Laden tape in 2004.

The 2016 Democrats nominated the most corrupt candidate in their party’s history.
