Mitch McConnell is the most destructive threat to democracy in the current age, and yes, that includes Trump. Democrats need to hold the Senate at any cost.

What happens after 2022/ if the Congress is narrowly divided with a D Trifecta and WARNOCK loses to Herschel Walker and it's 51/49 and Sinema not Manchin is the workaround Senator, that would be very interesting

As long as Mcconnell has the Filibuster he doesn't have to workaround Ds they can obstruct

Why does the press never follow up with:

"So you 100% want to stop healthcare from being more affordable?"

"Are you 100% against providing economic relief to Americans impacted by Covid-19?"

"Senator why are you 100% in favor of many Americans having their drinking water come out of deteriorating lead pipes that makes their kids sick?"

Because the mainstream press is controlled by corporate interests, and are thus made to assume that politicians aren't corrupt in general (which the majority of the general public does not believe).

You're actually wrong....most people think politicians are corrupt, so yes, they think so....the media is supposed to be balanced, not ideological like MSNBC and Fox....

I hope Dems take a page out of his playbook and start playing for keeps.

Start being ruthless.

Make the minority party miserable.

We probably only have 2 years and we need to take advantage now.  They'll do the same when they're the majority again.

Joe Manchin has offered his opinion on this, let's just say it's less than ideal:

In short, Manchin is deliberately assuming the role of a saboteur (assuming he is neither stupid or naive).   If Mitch McConnell's statement isn't enough to convince him of Republican duplicity and deceit, if our experience from the first two years of the Obama presidency wasn't enough to convince him, nothing will.

Then make Ed Markey Senate Maj. Ldr.

I don't agree with Markey on everything, but he has more fire and energy than Schumer....

I doubt anyone on this forum or active in politics thought any differently of him, but there really is something about hearing him say it outright.

The most disappointing thing to me isn't that he's just a terrible person obsessed with power at any cost (there are countless people like that), it's that despite being seen this way and viscerally hated by so many people, including a majority of his own constituency, he still continues to be elected term after term. He is the personification of our broken institutions and crumbling civic society.

Just letting Trump get re-elected would've ensured a far deeper majority in 2022.

And this is one reason why I believe the we do not currently have good government nor are a democracy. This man leads a party with veto power over any non-reconciliation approved legislation.

He keeps getting elected, though, so what does that tell us?

(I don't know, I'm just asking.)

Maybe the lesson is, how many times do we have to be confronted with this situation before we learn? Maybe we're the ones who aren't "getting" the message.
We did learn. That's why Biden is trying to put the pressure on Republicans by proposing a popular agenda, and redefining bipartisanship as being popular with Americans overall, not in Congress.

Mcconnell is right though, it's not a Socialisic country, D's lost that in 2020 when they lost the Supermajority they thought they would get

Statehood even if D's hold the Trifecta it will probably be a 51/49 and Sinema would be the workaround not Manchin
