An update since I cleaned my last.fm, and probably around one third of scrobbles is gone (everything from 2016 and 2017). There are still some mistakes because of people who place tags that don't belong there, there are two mistakes i've noticed (hana for argentina instead of usa and yukari for japan instead of korea, so i will always correct those when i place the numbers)

Ranking - nation - number of scrobbles - number of artists from said country - three best scrobbled artists

1. United States - 13235 (337) Empress Of, Beach House, Yaeji
2. United Kingdom - 9641 (236) Cocteau Twins, Radiohead, Disclosure
3. Canada - 7221 (51) Grimes, Crystal Castles, BRAIDS
4. France - 4231 (77) Agar Agar, La Femme, Polo & Pan
5. South-Korea - 1648 (13) Yukari, Peggy Gou, Aseul
6. Australia - 1395 (33) Tame Impala, Mall Grab, Moses Gunn Collective
7. Singapore - 1313 (3) Yeule, Jasmine Sokko, Subsonic Eye
8. Belgium - 1110 (18 ) Raar, Cabaret Nocturne, Netsky
9. Germany - 1048 (32) Claes Rosen, Kyodai, Daso
10. Norway - 629 (18 ) SMERZ, Royskopp, Jerry Folk

11. Japan - 609 (41) Soichi Terada, Cuushe, So Inagawa
12. Ireland - 457 (7) My Bloody Valentine, U2, The Cranberries
13. Netherlands - 453 (38) Olivier Heldens, Showtek, Fatima Yamaha
14. Sweden - 441 (35) Evigt Morker, iamamiwhoami, The Radio Dept.
15. Iceland - 390 (8 ) Bjork, Vok, Sigur Ros
16. Italy - 326 (17) X-Coast, Goblin, Crookers
17. Iran - 284 (1) Inkyz
18. Poland - 262 (6) Coals, Radikal Guru, Xilent
19. Colombia - 226 (6) Kali Uchis, Lido Pimienta, Ela Minus
20. Russia - 200 (12) Kedr Livanskiy, Pinkshinyultrablast, IC3PEAK

Also over 100 scrobbles:
21. Brazil - 189 (8 ) CoastDream, Os Tincoas, Boogarins
22. Puerto Rico - 131 (2) Buscabulla, ILE
23. Austria - 108 (6) Demuja, Camo & Krooked, Soap & Skin
24. Turkey - 108 (2) She Past Away, Aleksandir

I assume using this? https://mold.github.io/explr

It's pretty inaccurate though. The majority of my "artists without a country" are just obscurish (sometimes not even that obscure, I mean Cadillac Blindside?) American bands, and it has my top UK band as Embrace, which was Ian MacKaye's post-Minor Threat DC-based emo band. Even my top two from Germany (A country I do listen to a significant number of bands from) are both American.

Chad is the weirdest though, apparently that's Brandston, an emo band from Cleveland?

I don't have an account with last.fm, so I don't think I can use that mapper. But if I had to guess, the top countries would probably be the anglosphere (especially US, UK, and Ireland), followed by Western Europe, and then a smattering of other places like Russia, Cuba, Iceland, India, and with occasional "I'm going to listen to East Asian pop today" phases.

I don't use last.fm, so I can't really provide a map. I can't really provide countries either.

I can provide languages, though. Most of my music is English, French, or Scandinavian (Norwegian/Swedish/Danish). So just assume from there, I guess.

Mostly Japan, if I had to estimate around 70%. The rest is American or British, mostly if I hear something from a movie I like or whatever's on the radio, as well as 90s-era Weather Channel local forecast music (which probably makes up a majority of Western music.)

Laki, you've got pretty cool taste in music, it looks like. I especially enjoy seeing Agar Agar and Vok up there.

honestly it's pretty heavily from the USA.

the foreign artists I have on my spotify are like, Kygo, Jonas Blue, David Guetta, and a bunch of other DJs, who are mostly all from either the UK, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, or Germany.

I have a couple of BTS songs as well I guess, so a very small amount of Korean music. and Lorde, which I think she's from Australia or New Zealand?

Other than that yeah it's all American for me.

All of them.   From Serge Gainsbourg to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and everything in between.

Italy, United States of America, United Kingdom.

Right now among the songs I have downloaded on Spotify I have:
- 185 songs by British artists
- 119 songs by Usonian artists
- 104 songs by Italian artists
- 24 songs by artists from the rest of the world (Ireland, Australia, Canada, Germany, Norway, France)

This count is somewhat skewed by the fact that for whatever reason I only download rock/pop/contemporary music and I don't download the classical music I listen to (which is more varied and has particularly strong Russian representation, among others) but the topline would not substantially change.

Shame there isn't an equivalent app for Spotify users. I suspect the UK would come up tops with the USA second for me.

Best guesses:

Sober list:
#1: USA (punk, alternative, Motown, jazz, country)
#2: UK (mostly punk/punk-adjacent)
#3: Canada (the usual suspects from the 90s and earlier)
#4: Australia (indie pop)

Drunk list:
#1: Mainland China (patriotic music)
#2: Taiwan
#3: Hong Kong
#4: UK (Celtic rock)
#5: USA (country)

I'm not sober very often, so...

Mostly American except for ABBA, Daft Punk, The Beatles, and a few bands I probably don't realize are Canadian or British.
