No more white police officers in minority areas? I actually think this would solve police brutality. I don't think white cops and POC areas mix...

There should be police segregation. The two cannot co-exist. A white police officer should not patrol a Black majority area. Let the white police officer patrol the white suburb instead of a minority city.

It may be a controversial take, but I personally believe that this would be a solution to ending police brutality.

Speak for your own area.  Chicago police have largely abandoned the poorer, minority-heavy areas where gang activity is running rampant and leading to an astonishing number of shootings and deaths.  They’re damned if they go in there and damned if they don’t.

So, that would mean that 73% white Nassau County should only have White cops, and no black cops. Hempstead, the biggest area in Nassau, is Black-majority, so white cops should not patrol those areas.

Well, I have to admit I've generally found it strange when you have a workforce of people serving a neighborhood who predominately don't live in that neighborhood. It's not even a BLM thing, it's just, why? Even from a purely efficacy standpoint, you would want locals on the police force since they are more likely to know about the people they are dealing with.

How is that clear? New York City has the fewest police shootings among large cities in America, where death by police gunshot is incredibly rare compared to other big cities at only 0.2 per 100,000 people (compare that with St Louis at 36.3), and NYPD is about half white (i.e. more white than the general NYC population). Many of these, I am assuming, are patrolling neighborhoods that would be considered "POC."

The trouble is that this view oversimplifies the role of the police and the different types of missions that different types of police face. Nobody would credibly suggest that every department ought to have SWAT teams or riot gear, for example, or that such widespread deployment of those assets is even necessary.

The sheriff’s departments within each county should be responsible for most normal policing duties within their county. These include providing security for sporting events, investigating crimes that occur within their county, and operating the county jail. The number of constables within each sheriff’s department should vary by county, taking into account the population and size of the county. The sheriff should be an executive official, as part of the local cabinet - answering first to the county executive, and ultimately to the county council, who exercises overall political control over the sheriff’s department.

The gendarmerie should be a state-level agency, controlled by the state government. A militarized police force, they would be responsible for arresting rioters, breaking up unlawful assemblies, rescuing hostages, fighting domestic terrorists, and other crimes that require better equipment, training, strategy, and centralized leadership. They should, of course, be used sparingly, and only in instances where the county sheriff’s department is either overwhelmed or incapable of containing the problem.

 Chicago is a terrible example as the police force there has been one of the most historically corrupt and brutal and Chicago has always been one of America's most violent cities, not just recently. If anything Chicago is an example of the failures of the community not being reflected in the police that are supposed to protect them.

 The NYC drop in crime rates has happened as its police force has gotten more diverse, something that many proponents including white police unions argued against.

She intervened when a white police officer named Greg Kwiatkowski was using an illegal chokehold on a handcuffed black man named Neal Mack. The officer preceded to punch her in the face, argue she compromised his safety and get her fired and then later sue her for defamation, incredulously winning his case. This same white police officer was later arrested and jailed for police brutality when he was caught calling a group of black teenagers "savage dogs" before brutalizing them. The man Cariol Horne saved Neal Mack has never changed his account and says that she saved his life as he was being choked while handcuffed and said he was running out of air to breath before she stepped in.

 Cariol Horne did the right thing and lost her job and pension and finally after more than a decade of suing she was awarded her rank and pension by the courts who argued she acted correctly.

 We need more officers like Cariol Holloman Horne!
