The donation site was hacked and donors were made public.  He did use his work email which I guess is why they have cause, but it was clearly meant to be an anonymous donation.

I would very much like to see the people who are attempting to eliminate anonymity make their full browsing history public.

Someone who would donate to a person who went looking for trouble with a gun shouldn't be on the police force.

I’d be very worried about dealing with any police that support Rittenhouse.

The internet hate mob has once again taken it too far.

But clearly police using time on the clock, paid for by taxpayers, to donate to murderers, or using their uniform as an excuse to kill, is not going too far.

So losing your job and your privacy in return for a donation is proportionate retribution now?
Do you care for liberty and freedom, or just some cardboard cutout version that only restricts the freedom of those you dislike?

He should have thought about all that before he made the donation and made very supportive comments of the shooter through his department issued email address. It is a new day and this sort of thing won't fly. TIME IS UP!

When people do something on the job they shouldn't be doing, they deserve to lose their job, period. I don't know why this suddenly becomes controversial when it's cops breaking the rules.

If you watch the video in the OP link, you will hear that this officer included a note to Rottenhouse with his donation, telling him ...
"Every rank-and-file police officer supports you. Don't be discouraged by the actions of the political class of law enforcement leadership."

This statement, attached to the full name of the police officer, and seen by the entire community, is probably what contributed most to his a$$ getting canned.
Good riddance.

It was attached to the full name as an anonymous donation where he was later doxxed by some hackers. If he made this donation as a public act then yes that would be bad, but the only bad part is a typical boomer using their work email because it was probably auto-log in for the website.

So if it "auto-log(ed)" him on the donation website, using his work email account, then he was using an official police department computer/device?

A clear example of why one should never ever use a work email for anything personal.

Has he actually been fired?

The story says he was re-assigned and then relieved of duty.

Maybe I don't understand the differences properly in this case, but to me it appears something like this:

re-assigned: no longer executive of Internal Affairs, instead filing paperwork

relieved of duty: not allowed to act as an officer of the law in any capacity, but  still technically working for the department/city

suspended: not working, but not fired (may still have benefits, depending on contract)

dismissed: fired, no longer has a job

If this is actually the only evidence that this officer is a problem, then this officer isn't a problem.

I mean, I don't like doxxing as a rule...but I'm not the least bit sad to see that this guy got fired either.
