President Biden will speak on April 28. Some GOP sources say they may turn to Ron DeSantis or the wife of slain St. Louis police officer David Dorn to push an aggressive pro-police, law and order push...

No one. As a show of unity, all 541 members of Congress should sign and endorse his address.

It's not gonna be a typical SOTU speech, there aren't gonna be 538 Congressmen and Guests in the Pews, due to Covid, I am not watching it.

I will watch the highlights, that's why it took so long for Pelosi to invite Biden, the last one had all the works, it was before Covid

They'll probably pick one of their various newly-elected young, far-right women and/or minorities, who the GOP and their media allies (CNN, NYT, etc.) are desperate to force down our throats as examples of "new" "moderate" "post-Trump" Republicans. Young Kim, Michelle Steel, Nancy Mace, Burgess Owens, etc.

But will Young Kim atone for her homophobia?

Until Pandemic is over, I am not gonna be paying attention to that many Biden speeches because they are mostly gonna be about infrastructure spending, since the Ds don't have the votes until 2023 to lift Filibuster, when we get a 52/48 Senate with WI, PA pickups

Donald Trump, obviously.

The GOP should not miss this chance to remind everyone what they stand for: Donald Trump, his ego and nothing else, because they're a (death) cult.

None, I've always thought that the "opposition response" to the State of the Union was cheesy and awful regardless of which party is in power.  It's a pre-scripted set of talking points about how everything is awful and it's all the POTUS' fault, and has nothing to do with the actual content of the SOTU speech.  So it's not a "response" it's just the opposition party demanding to have airtime for their own speech and the media, for some reason, granting that request.

None, because it's not an official SOTUS Address. GOP lawmakers will each put out ridiculous Tweets how Biden's speech was "partisan" and "divisive" and written by left-wing forces secretly controlling him. And Mr. Trump will release a statement how much higher ratings his speeches had and that GOP leadership is tired and weak for not boycotting the speech.

I'm unsure this will get an official GOP response since it isn't an actual SOTU.

That being said, any address to a joint session of Congress given by Biden will be partisan cheerleading only partially smoothed over with the most banal appeals to "unity" imaginable.  This is how Biden has campaigned and governed.

His signature legislative accomplishment had 75% approval among the general population. Not his fault Republicans in Congress didn’t vote for it.

It's not an official SOTU but there will still be an official response. Obama's 2009 address got one (by Bobby Jindal), and so did Trump's 2017 address (by Steve Beshear [English response] and Astrid Silva [Spanish response]).

SOTU are for the bullpulpit only, they can only recommend to Congress they can't enact law, unless D's have the votes to break the Filibuster or pass everything thru Reconciliation, but allowed Rs to Filibuster it

In any event we now know that Clinton in 1994 could have used Reconciliation on Health care Reform and Obama should of broke the Filibuster on DC Statehood in 2009 and Reid could have gotten rid of it in 2013

None, the only good opposition response was Jim Webb's speech.  The others range from forgettable to embarrassingly bad.

Joe Manchin just said no again to lifting Filibuster

https://news.yahoo.com/sen-joe-manchin-getting-rid-165847424.html

If this is the case just pass the Scott version of police Reform

If would be just fitting if D's get 51/49 Senate, WI and PA and narrow hold of H, Voters are nervous about amnesty for illegals and gun control and voting rights

It really is, it’s almost like a death kiss. Joe Kennedy, Carlos Curbelo, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Marco Rubio, Dick Gephardt, Trent Lott, etc

It would seem difficult to deliver a response to something when you don't know what Biden is going to say in advance. Depending on what he says, it might be appropriate for the minority leader McCarthy to respond a few days later.

Pre-written canned replies to SOU speeches are almost uniformly arid and forgettable.
