As former president, I urge the current administration to support this policy. This bill was misunderstood by many people, myself included, but essentially the bill allows regions to cap the interest rates on 40% of banks (i.e. the largest ones).

Someone who lives in Florida, where interest rates are capped, can still borrow from a New York-based bank where there is no anti-usury law. However, all those Southern-based banks are limited in how much they can charge interest.

This would not affect the Federal Reserve (a private company, I like to point out!) unless inflation was so bad that they had to raise interest rates to 12%. That is insanely high.

Labor should support regional efforts to crack down on big banks. I sincerely hope that President OBD considers this and weighs the bill on its merits, not your opinion of its author.

For example, South Dakota has no caps on interest rates. Under federal law a bank chartered for both South Dakota and Virginia (like Deutsche Bank) can charge infinity intetest in Virginia, even though a Virginia only bank (like Carter Bank & Trust) or credit union (like our local United Rubber Workers Credit Union) cannot charge infinity intetest. The Bible, our ultimate moral arbiter on Earth, demands we crush the wicked banks who bleed the life from His flock.

This was all explained in the provided reading. Am I the only one who did the reading?

We've technically nullified this in the South already, but if it does come back it could let Lincoln and Fremont similarly crush their own serpents.
