Last time I went swimming was in the spring of the year 2000.

Yes. I haven’t been doing a whole lot recently due to the pandemic (last time I went was summer 2020), but I at least always used to be a pretty decent swimmer, due largely to my height, I think. Certainly a lot better than my non-existent running ability.

Interesting thing to note, but the pandemic has somewhat made me want to go swimming again myself and do a bunch of other things some of which I haven't done in decades like that. I guess its the thought process of being able to previously but not anymore made me want it for the first time in a while, whereas before it was just not interesting to me.

I do, but I didn't learn until I was 11.
Took me a long time too, i'm not sure when I did start learning it, but probably around 9-10 too. Swimming is mandatory in Belgium, and people basically sh**t on you if you can't swim. You're not part of it. Teachers have been hard on me because I couldn't swim.

I remember having failing to get to 25m swimming, stopping at 23 metres, because i got afraid... Eventually i got a lot better in this, and my speed is about average now while my stamina is probably even above average.

Yes, and allowing your kids to grow up without even the most basic swimming skills (i.e., paddling like a dog to prevent yourself from drowning) is pretty dangerous and borderline negligent.
