If Mark Kelly wins re-election in 2022 I think he'd be a strong contender for VP. His background and status as a popular swing-state senator would be a plus. Though depending on Gabby Giffords' condition he may not want to run on a national ticket, which I couldn't really blame him for.

I guess there's a chance the ticket would be "too Western" but I don't know if that would matter all that much.

Mark Kelly went to my high school. I’d be proud to have him as VP.

Biden already said he is a 2T Prez Harris won't be Prez until 2028 not 2024, Biden is the strongest nominee against DeSantis, Harris isn't ready until 2028

D's would risk losing Congress if DeSantis is nominated and Biden is going to run unless H is taken over by Mccarthy and he impeached Biden for Hunter Biden probe

Biden is four yrs older than Trump, of Trump can run n again in 2024 so can Biden

The one potential who has me spooked is Roy Cooper, so if I was Kamala's political advisor I'd go with him, although Kelly is a fair choice as well.

Probably not a White Male (unless it's Buttigeig), and probably not a woman (unless Warren says yes for some reason.)

Assuming Harris is willing to claim that Washington D.C is her official residence for the purpose of the electoral college, Alex Padilla actually would make a pretty good choice here.

Cooper might be a good option.

Josh Shapiro, if he is Governor, would be a slam dunk.

Josh Shapiro, if he is Governor, would be a slam dunk.

I agree, he would be a good pick for similar reasons Tom Wolf would have been in 2020 if Kamala won the Democratic nomination for president.

But younger, more charismatic, and history-making (Jewish)

I think the real question though, is what message Harris wants to send to the electorate. That's something we won't know for some time yet. There's always a narrative with VP choices, and I'm not sure what Harris will need to convey yet.

Recently:
Biden/Harris - "I've evolved on race, and I want to show Democratic primary voters that I'll be a force for progress, even if I'm not Bernie Sanders"
Trump/Pence - "Please evangelicals, I'm on your side, really!"
Clinton/Kaine - "Look, my election wouldn't be too much of a change. You'd still have a milqetoast white guy as VP!"
Romney/Ryan - "Look, I can be hip! Tea Party guys, I've got one of your guys! I care about the deficit!"
Obama/Biden - "I know I'm not experienced, but I'll surround myself with competent advisors"
McCain/Palin - "YOU GUYS LIKE HILLARY CLINTON? I CAN GIVE YOU A FEMALE CANDIDATE, PLEASE WE JUST NEED SOME VOTES"
Bush/Cheney - "Don't worry, there'll be an adult in the room. We'll be a sensible administration, with absolutely no major controversy..."

Harris has a couple of potential messages she may feel she can convey with her VP choice:
- She could follow the Hillary Clinton route, and pick a middle of the line, white male Democrat to assuage Fox-induced concerns about her 'radical socialist' tendencies (a lot of good options here: Cooper, Beshear, Kelly etc).
- She can follow the Bill Clinton route and pick a young, vibrant Senator (Ossoff etc) to contrast with the GOP nominee (if it's going to be Trump), to do the whole 'bridge to the future' thing.
- She can pick an older, experienced senator, Obama/Bush style, if she's denounced as a lightweight (thinking someone with extensive cabinet service, like a Mark Warner)

Perhaps the riskiest option is to go a little radical with the ticket, throwing out the conventional wisdom all together. If she were to pick another woman, or POC, it would lead to a ton of media coverage, and speculation about a changing country. Which could either be hugely damaging, or embolden the party base, depending on the choice, and the polling. A Harris/Booker, Harris/Duckworth or Harris/Warren ticket can't 100% be ruled out. In this environment, after the shock closeness in 2020, I would be surprised though.

Wouldn't be surprised if the police commissioner controversy has precluded Walsh's further elevation in Democratic politics.

Theoretically Cooper is the strongest pick, but realistically her running mate is going to be Mayor Petr, knowing the DNC.

She will pick reassuring white man, of which Roy Cooper is the best option (dems should be doing better in NC)

For the last time Harris is not gonna be the nominee, she isn't ready to be Prez the only way she becomes president is if RH impeached Biden for Hunter probe

Have you noticed that you never see Hunter Biden ever since the inauguration like you see Chelsea or Trump Jr or Don Jr, he is always missing

She is in the 30s for a reason, to she hasn't done her job with broken borders how is she gonna resolve the issue as Prez

She should pick Roy Cooper. I don't think it'll be Beshear as I expect him to lose re-election in 2023 (although if he wins he'd be a fantastic choice.)

Harris might need to choose a Hispanic running mate given Biden’s losses with them. Antonio Delgado or Chuy Garcia could be a good pick, even if they don’t really have national attention

In 2024, Michael Bennet would easily be her best pick.  In 2028, it'd be Chris Murphy.
