Kinda sad tbh, it would’ve been nice if he could have hit 100. He was one of those people that was always good for a laugh even if you get guilty for laughing at what he said. I hope that the queen is doing alright.

He seemed to have less of a stick up his ass than the other royals, so I kinda liked the guy. Too bad he didn’t make it to 100.

What happens to the Duke of Edinburgh title? Is it left vacant?

For the time being, it has been inherited by Charles; but it is expected to be recreated in order to be granted to Prince Edward, the only son of the Queen without a Duke title.

This can only happen after Charles becomes King and the Dukedom will merge in the Crown.

I don't know in what universe Prince Philip of all people was an FF, but RIP nevertheless.

As for the Prince Philip Movement, I read somewhere during his hospital stay a month or two ago that they've been expecting this for a while now and their theology is already anticipating how to accommodate it. Apparently their belief is that his soul will return to Vanuatu and be spiritually present with them.

Here's the whole list from which that was extracted, including a rare bit of self-awareness:

Somewhat grim, but I wonder if this may accelerate the Queen's death. I know it's common for people who have been married a long time to die close to each other.

Rest in peace, freedom fighter. He was truly a character and very loyal to his wife. Too unfortunate he narrowly missed his 100th birthday.

I actually didn't know he was born in Greece.

No one is immortal. The day could still be several years from now, but she will die eventually.

Not necessarily so. There have been many righteous people on this planet who've lived to an advanced age, and most of them are unspoken.

Until every child is able to grow up with the wealth and privileges afforded to Prince Philip, then I will continue to believe that the 18th century French had basically the right idea with how to treat royalty.

Does this mean that every child will have to flee Greece in a crate and lose their mother to an asylum and their sister to a plane crash?

You think a mentally ill person who (barely) attempts a regicide with a pen knife should be pulled apart at the limbs by horses?
