Fun fact: this is the most debated bill in the history of the regional government board.

I object, there are significant concerns that I have voiced that have not been met, and I do not plan on voting for this in its current form.

NAY, it’s kind of annoying to be compared to Moscow Mitch who voted to acquit a president who sent a mob on the capitol which intended to lynch Nancy Pelosi and hang Mike Pence, he is complicit in the creation of the GQP, he owns the disaster that has arisen, and as Democrats, we need to do everything in our power to defeat Moscow Mitch comparisons to Mitch only threaten to divide the party and let the GQP win.

Anyways, RL tangent aside, this is reform for the sake of reform. I will note similar proposals were discussed in the past, and frankly no one discussed them, now all this tells is either people have the memory of goldfish or they weren’t around then, the second is excusable, the first isn’t

Here’s the threads for reference:

https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=352215.0, https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=352217.0

Lots of good arguments here, in fact I did once support reform, but it became clear to me it was reform for the sake of reform and make no mistake that’s what this is too. The old system was replaced due to an activity crisis, we have had no such crisis here, despite the attempts of the proponents to manufacture one.

One last thing on the topic of RL tangents, this strikes me as similar to the 2017 Obamacare repeal law where the Republicans had a slogan “repeal and replace,” just like here you have a slogan, “repeal the Philadelphia Plan,” but it seems that along the way you lost track of what you wanted to do and why you wanted to do it. This is reform for the sake of reform, and I cannot in good faith or conscience support this, that’d be a betrayal of my constituents, I am frankly alarmed that no one else has had the foresight, logic, or whatever to voice these concerns. I expect this to fall on deaf ears ultimately, but I don’t care it is better to die fighting for a valiant cause than to live fighting for a bad one.

Idk what S019 is talking about, this has been one of the most focussed and efficient legislative deliberations I have seen in my time in Atlasia. Very weird that he just refuses to learn anything new about democracy and thinks this is a virtue!

Clearly no one actually read the links that I posted

Also I’m still confused how this isn’t reform for the sake of reform.

I personally never saw anything wrong with the earlier repeal attempt, but I will note this is a much cleaner proposal, only requiring one ratification vs two. It also addresses more issues - the earlier attempt would have left the Council as a Council and kept some parliamentary aspects in place.
